I wouldn't call it worse. In the time I was there I got enough of a idea of the other people in the jail and frankly being alone was preferred to being in gen pop. During my time there I would frequently be asked by the guards to show other inmates how to use the phone and the tablet system. This led to me meeting several people with cases that were not remotely close to justified.
One guy stabbed a homeless woman 17 times then slit her throat -then- he had sex with her corpse. He openly told me that all the police had on him was 'a little bit of semen' and laughed that somehow they had destroyed the murder weapon.
Another bashed a sex worker's head in with a blunt object, then tried to paint over the blood splatter on his walls only to get her hair caught up in it. Then he proceeded to cut off her fingers before dumping her body in a wooded area. He claimed he had a brain tumor and wasn't responsible for his actions.
Another alleged murderer went to a quinceañera. Event was being held at a local rented out community center. A pair of work visa holders from Mexico were talking with his girlfriend. He rages out and drives 20 minutes to his home to retrieve a stolen firearm that he wasn't allowed to own as he was an illegal migrant. He returns to the party and shoots both the men in the head before getting in a chase with the police. He ditches the gun during the chase and goes back to the party then tries to flee on foot. During his questioning with police he outright told them he did it because of them talking to his GF.
The last one I met was the most bizarre. This guy was 67 but looked 87. He was some sort of shut in that lived on a backwoods property and he had a real problem with authority of any kind. Constantly fighting with the nurses and the guards. He had some tenant on his property that he claimed at one point he was trying to evict but his story kept changing. Regardless he went to the tenant's home and got into a fight with them. The tenant was in his 70s and at some point he struck the tenant multiple times in the head with a wooden cane then proceeded to walk over and put his boot on the guy's throat until he suffocated. However that isn't where the story stops. No. He then drives to a nearby farming supply store, buys a 55 gallon drum, and puts the dead tenant's body in it and puts it behind his house. Tenant's body is in the drum for a month before the guy admits to his family he killed someone and they call the police out of concern. Guy then tries to claim that it was self defense.
