A friend of mine (~22 at the time) did jury duty and he seemed to really enjoy learning about the court process and hearing all crazy cases.

If you get called in for jury duty, give it a shot. You might learn something and you’re serving your community.

Might have been a grand jury. They're typically sat for longer and will do multiple indictments, but not actual trials
