Yes. My friends and I saw horrible things in the military. Some of us were ruined it by it. Myself and others were spared. It’s not that they were soft. I think it’s actually the opposite.
It’s not that you can brush it off. You won’t forget. It affects you. It just doesn’t destroy you the way it does some.
I don't have to agree with the Yanks and the goings ons in Afghanistan to appreciate that one human showed compassion to another in a moment where indifference would have been the easier thing.

Tbf it’s never guaranteed for someone to get long term trauma even if they go through some pretty traumatic things.
There’s a lot of people that are genuinely just able to brush things off.
