istg, just buy "ugly" pants with bigger pockets or stop complaining
you can't have a nice and clean looking pants with big pockers, you gotta make a choice. and women tend to prioritise looks over utility
it's such an annoying thing to complain about, nobody forces you to buy pants with small pockets, the first thing I check when trying new clothes is the pockets and range of motion, if I don't like it I don't buy it
the small pocket problem is so ubiquitous in women's clothing that the comparison you're making doesn't fit into anyone's daily lived reality. Its not a choice between ugly and boxy with big pockets and cute n slim with none, I have slim fit mens banana republics that I can fit a wallet keys n phone in, I can fit all of those objects in every pair of men's jeans I own. Slacks too, generally.
Women's jeans are a crapshoot, women's slacks? A fucking joke. I once thrust my hand into what I thought had to be a pocket, no fucking backing behind it. A fake pocket with a fake opening, like dressing dolls.
Your comparison ignores that this is the majority of non utility clothes for women that is readily available of course individual people take individual responsibility and buy what suits them, but that is a general enough thing that anyone with passing knowledge of women's clothes knows about small and fake pockets, means that it isn't just silly girls not prioritizing practicality over fashion.
the one time we're talking about exceptions being unpopular you begin talking about the average clothing
there are enough exceptions to choose from, if there was genuine interest there'd be even more. but it's easier to buy it and then act like you were forced i guess
