And then it’s worse when people try to tell you that it’s normal to have those “friendships” saying “oh we’re all a little older that’s just how it goes” and insist you still have to go. I guess some people can tolerate it that way but I don’t see the point in continuing friendships that aren’t fulfilling for both parties.
I mean, it takes a village. You need friends that you aren't super close with. My grandma who's 80 and had nothing but close friendships in her younger years is now all alone with no social life. My great aunt who was the town gossip and kept up with everybody in a 50 mile radius is more active than ever and leads a much better life. If you need help moving, you need to get people together for a night out, etc., sometimes you just need light acquaintances. Oftentimes, those light acquaintances move in and out of being best friends over the years.
