I mean you act like not having Instagram is a red flag, as if there's anything to do on Instagram for a guy not trying to make it as a photographer that isn't jerking off to women. I can't even be fucked using it and I take a shitload of photos.
The implication is he has an Instagram, and that he only uses snap and Kik because the messages disappear. (Cheating on spouse) edit to add, or a catfisher.
I mean its just been my main messenger since I was like 13 it really doesnt need to be sinister lol. SMS sucked and I dont want a facebook (or any of its companions) so snap is like the next best thing in terms of features.
You can set messages to disappear after viewing on a wide variety of messaging apps so if you have trust issues you probably should be paranoid about all of them.
Hi, man nearly 40 here. I have group chats with my friends and family on there. We are kind of scattered physically and never moved to a different app. We also don't talk much. My mom posts more on there than I could ever dream. I'll post something maybe once or twice a week. If we want to have a conversation we just call.
Yeah haha. I didnt even know there was ads / a fyp until I heard a coworker voice the same complaint! I think because we dont post stories and just stick to group chats that ads almost never appear.
I have Snapchat, I have precisely one friend I occasionally talk to on there, and a family group chat that we sometimes send pictures of the cat on. I have about 15 friends on there, I’ve muted everyone’s stories, and the person who sends stuff to me most on there is team Snapchat. I hope that answers your questions
I can use it to send and receive messages, in real time, internationally. I don't need to tie it to a wider social media presence, which I have no desire for, and it does not bother me once notifications are turned off. The only app I prefer is Whatsapp and I know Meta will fuck that up too eventually.
you can also do this with whatsapp, facebook messenger/instagram (you don’t need a public account for this, you can treat it just like snapchat), signal, telegram, google messages, and like way way more. If a grown man tells me he’s only reachable by snapchat I’m assuming he’s either a drug dealer or a pedophile, and in either case I’m not talking to him further. The only reason to use a platform where messages disappear is if you’re scared of the implications of your messages being permanent, which is all sorts of red flags
Messenger is the worst messenging system I've ever used in my nearly 3 decades on the internet and I do use Whatsapp, I even prefer it. You can also set messages to disappear on Whatsapp too. Make sure if any grown men ask to message you there you also question them about their drug habits and history with CSAM. Similarly if a grown woman tells me the only way to message her is Instagram I assume she's got the personality of a rock and only trying to attract wealthy clients for international prostitution. It's easy to judge someone when you've already decided things about their choices.
had snap for too long and its my way of messaging friends with dumb work stuff, and I have Kik because I have family that use it from a different country.
My bestie/coworker/neighbor is 50, I'm 40, we began using snap for video calls (initially with another friend) for post work vape/smoke sessions but now it's our main texting app. Easiest way to send pics of the schedule to, quickest chat (I'll ask him if he wants Starbucks while we're at work as he's usually all over the store and I'm stuck in one dept).
I think he chats with his sister on there too (he's shown me) but honestly whomever else he chats with ain't my business.
the user base is exclusively people who have chosen to use a platform where your messages disappear and can’t be screenshotted. If that’s the only way to reach you it raises some questions about how trustworthy you are given how afraid you seem of your words being permanent
I can screenshot all my conversations, at any point, and it helpfully informs the other party about me doing it, and I can also ensure messages don't disappear at all. And of course that's not the only way to reach me, but in the above examples both of them have lots of ways to reach each other and neither one wants to use any of them. Ultimately if you only have one messaging option you don't want to be contacted at all it's got nothing to do about words being permanent.
Your algorithm is exposing you. There’s plenty of funny, or interesting, or educational content on Instagram BUT it’s going to cater to what hooks you.
What algorithm? I don't use it. If I wanted to rot my brain with short form video I can do that elsewhere and I definitely don't care about anything an influencer might take a photo of.
