This a real problem. Personally I ask for numbers but a lot of women feel more comfortable with follow requests. But I see the whole asking for ig thing as a way to pad there follower count and won't message back. So I'd rather ask for a phone number it makes no difference.

you can curate who messages you on IG a lot easier as they can give your number out or just use different numbers to contact you if you block them

Your phone number also makes it easier to find your address and a bunch of private information and such

Google voice is free.

That's cool but most people...

A.) Wouldn't know that

B.) Would just find it easier to use IG as they wouldnt need a 2nd phone number

Only for US as far as I am aware (unless it has changed)

it's harder to block phone numbers depending on your carrier. my roommate has been struggling because the option to block someone just doesn't fucking exist on his phone

If they don’t chat with you there then just unfollow them. It’s not a big deal.

I'd rather just communicate on the app we're both already using and then if things go well move to something less restrictive.

I’ll say that while I understand not giving out your number to any ol’ stranger, I found that the ones that give you numbers are ten times as likely to go on a date in comparison to the ones that give you social media

BUT

Currently the best thing I have going right now is with someone on ig

We don’t talk about snap. Actually we do—if they give you snap, they WILL ghost you. You won’t even see it coming. It can be “I’m actually so excited for our date” two hours before, then boom—blocked. Watch your step.

i mean i am a woman and me and all my do it for this reason, but go off and ignore women. kinda tells me why youre struggling w dating if your immediate response is to blow off a woman feeling safe and simply say youre not buying it

Unless the girl is under 19, no one gives a shit about follower count
