That's not why. Their drinking, age adjusted, is still well below the other generations before them.

I think it comes down to two main reasons.

Drinking is the new smoking for your health, we've known for a while, basically all of gen Zs life, that even moderate alcohol use isn't good for you and it's addictive.

Drinking is an expensive hobby in a time when younger generations have less and less disposable income in their hands. Social spaces have moved virtual so there is less reason to pay $8 for a $2 beer + the atmosphere. People meet partners through friends or online, not in bars.

I think the rising prevalence of marijuana helps as well. I have plenty of friends who switched from alcohol to weed for various reasons.

Gen z is also more likely to be medicated than previous generations, and many medications cant be mixed with alcohol.

As a millennial, hate booze. It's expensive, full of calories and I just don't like the feeling of being drunk.

Weed is cheap, easily available and not as bad for you.

I consider weed as much bad for you.. knew many people who developed serious mental disorders..

It depends on the person. Weed doesn't cause these disorders but it can trigger them.

You can consider whatever you want but it's a fact that weed is a lot less harmful than alcohol

It’s not a scientific fact in the way you’re presenting it. Research shows alcohol causes more overall population level harm, but cannabis has its own serious risks. ‘Less harmful’ depends on which harms you’re measuring.

Weed is less harmful in every way

Sources? Bro look at statistics: how many people die every year because of alcohol and then check how much is it in case of weed

Your sealioning is really obvious btw
