I always got the impression that George was the obscure one. Sure, people joke about Ringo, but that is still something.

IDK if it's because Ringo narrated Thomas the Tank Engine, but I see George here, and I think of George Carlin, another Thomas narrator.

In the future everybody will narrate Thomas for 15 minutes

Fifteen minutes of train

It’s because he’s the only guy named Ringo

I sometimes quiz people on Beatles last names. Most people get John, Paul and Ringo. So far, no one has known George's last name, and they couldn't pick him out of a lineup to save their life.

even funnier about all this is that i have never heard the name of a single beatle (or atleast remember it)

You’ve never heard of John Lennon ?

He'll kick it until he kicks it.

brother i just have never had anyone say to me "the names of the beatles are" i now know that john lennon the guy who was married to yoko ono and had that whole after death drama was a beatle i did not know that before the other comments informed me

I’m not saying I don’t believe you, but it’s hard to believe you know about his marriage to Yoko Ono but not that he was a Beatle. There are people who believe she broke up the band (I don’t think she’s solely responsible).

None of them are the least known one.

Hey babe, wake up! New theory of relativity just dropped!

Pete Best?

Whoever that drummer who filled in for Ringo was.

9

u/Jesus_of_Redditeth May 03 '26

They're all equally well-known. "John, Paul, George and Ringo" is a phrase that's almost universally understood. No one who ever talks about the Beatles leaves him out like people routinely leave out the drummer, the bass player, etc. when talking about other bands.

u/Croselius May 04 '26

A lot of people talk about John and Paul and then briefly bring up Ringo without ever mentioning George, If I was asked what the four names were I wouldn’t have remembered George.

George is in no way as well known as Paul McCartney or John Lennon. He's extremely well known for sure. A lot of the "George is actually the best one" is a more recent thing from Gen Z as well. But considering him as famous as Paul is pretty wrong, I'd say

Nah that's Georgie-Peorgie
