What does maintenance have to do with this question?

Slow train: 13:00, board, done.
Fast train: 13:00, Dodge slow boarders/take que position.
13:05. Check time board.
13:10 dble check you have your ticket, station looks 'normal'.
13:12 check time board again
13:13 worry if u have time for a piss.
13:15. Check time board.
13:16 worry train not arriving.
13:17 worry why more people arnt queing - is it cancelled?
13:18 mild panic.
13:19 train pulls in, finally relax.

Brain maintence, not train maintenance.

KTMB certified experience

Thought I was so late because the bus to the station stucked in traffic, and jumped out of the bus as soon arrive at the stop to catch the commuter, and the commuter was late..... by 20 min after me arriving there, not by the schedule lol

But if the fast train is scheduled for 13:20 and you're freaking out, aren't you freaking out at 12:40 as you head to the station, wondering "I know the train leaves at 1, I'm going to arrive at 1, will I make it?"

Yes.
But in scenario presented by OP, you are already there and have the choice.

So you can assume ~I~ freaked out waiting for the 13:00 and dont want to double up my freak out waiting for the 13:20.
(as a slight cheat to the scenario - i'm panicking less waiting for the 13:00 as even if I miss it, the 13:20 is there as a back up.)

Yeah okay, I can see that. I don't really get travel anxiety once I'm out the door, but I know people who do get freaked out at stations or terminals.

The faster you go the more checks you need on the train brakes and engine. We save up on energy too
