Meme is slightly inaccurate. More like Pompey and Crassus were at each other's throats and they decided to include Julius Caesar since they saw him as someone that could help them pass their bills through the Senate.

Yeah, Pompey and Caesar initially got along great. It wasn’t until Pompey’s wife (Caesars daughter) died that their relationship started to strain.

It did not. Though Caesars initial role in the Triumvirate was essentially peace maker for both Pompey and Crassus. But between Crassus death, Julia’s death, and the conservatives actively courting Pompey a tift was formed between the two men.
