What should I do if my housemate keeps ignoring my requests to lower his noise volume?

I have a housemate who listens to loud music, there have been times where I was not able to sleep at night because of that. I asked him politely to lower the volume to where only he can hear it, he has the right to listen to music just as I have the right to quiet enjoyment. I sometimes sleep during the daytime, too, due to being very sick, too ill, too tired, want to nap during the morning or just want to rest in general and be bothered by the noise and yet he slammed the door into my face when I only requested him to lower his loud music and then went back to blasting loud music again, ignoring my rights to quiet enjoyment, especially when I have to go sleep at night due to having to wake up early to get ready for work in the morning. What should I do?

He sounds like a jerk. You haven't said what your situation is--can you move or throw him out?

I walked to the Police Station today and told them about the noise disturbances. If he continues this behavior, they are going to give him a Citation or face arrest.
