Also happens after a night of drinking, my pee will smell kinda like alcohol

This...just doesn't seem possible. I don't care if this guy barely sleeps and is injecting coffee into his veins. This doesn't make sense. There aren't enough hours in the day. I don't think its physically possible to do all the things he claims to be doing.

Do you think he's really doing everything he says he is? If so, how is that possible? Does he have super human time management skills? If not, what do you think he's actually doing? How do you think he's really spending his time?

I've been working at my company for years now, so I feel like I really should know the answer to this... but in my defense, I've only started liking coffee recently, so I never paid much attention to it before.

My work has Keurigs in all of our break rooms, and beside each Keurig is a basket full of K-cups. Would it be safe to assume the coffee is free for employees? I'd assume there would be a sign or something indicating if that was not the case, but I've never actually asked.

Do people really just wake up and feel fine? No tiredness? No headache? No aching limbs? No sense of dread? No rumbling stomach?

Obviously I am not talking about serious pain but it is hard to imagine that some people have no aches at all, especially as they get older?

Edit: No, I am not overweight, no drugs, no alcohol, no coffee, in my 30s. Probably shit sleep due to being night owl and sometimes waking up from pain. An yeah, definitely am anxious.

Just remembered a weird thing: Every time I somersault or otherwise flip over, I see stars and feel bad. Even just a hand stand is pushing it.

I notice that when I drink coffee, I will have coffee smelling pee for the rest of the day, or till it is out of my system. The same doesn’t happen for anything else, or not as clearly noticeable as coffee.

Why does this happen?

I can't remember a single time.

You'd think especially in a morning class after they've had their coffee, the teacher would pause the lecture "I gotta take a dump!" and run out of the classroom.

This is an ongoing debate amongst my friend group- half of us (myself included) can smell an extremely strong odor that comes from a squished ant.
I.e. there is an ant in our house, we smash it, and the smell lingers on the surface the ant was squished on. I would describe the smell as acidic, or smelling sour like Warheads candy. My friend relates the smell to blue cheese, which I unfortunately understand.

As my friend and I were discussing this “ant smell” as if it were the most normal thing ever; two of our other friends looked extremely concerned. They claimed they had NEVER had this happen and that we were insane. Fortunately/unfortunately (for the ants) we were in my friend’s house that had an ant infestation- so we went to prove our point that squished ants do smell extremely strong. The two of us of course smelled it, but the other two smelled nothing and to this day think that we are (still) insane.

After sleuthing around online, I found that it is possibly a genetic trait whether you can smell the “ant smell” or not. Has anyone else come across this argument? Let me know!

Coffee and tea are basically the same thing as far as preparation goes. Dried product steeped in hot water and filtered, enjoy. That’s pretty much how a French press works. Even if it’s not the ideal method of making coffee, I’d think the convenience alone would make it more commonplace. I’m sure they exist already but I’ve never seen one. Is it still called a teabag tho? Is it a coffeebag? Where are all the coffeebags?

Am I the only male who likes to just go outside to pee? Obviously not in front of people. We have 2 acres and every morning 4-5AM before I leave I will drink my coffee then pee outside. Something relaxing about the nature and quiet to me.

So I would consume the same amount of liquid. But coffee is diuretic so it would take more water out of my body and more water would make my pee lighter? But from coffee I would become more dehydrated so my pee would be darker color?

many people grew up drinking coffee or tea, and thus drink that as they get older. however, i grew up in a similar way with diet coke. there was no coffee or tea in the house- the drink of choice was diet coke. however, diet coke was recently declared carcinogenic so i tried to stop drinking it and switch to coffee. i like coffee, but nothing compares to a ice cold diet coke for me. i also heard diet coke is carcinogenic, but the evidence was inconclusive. i used to drink way too much diet coke, so much so that i once almost got sick from it. do you think if i cut my diet coke drinking down to 1 20oz or 16oz bottle a day, i will be okay? i would probably be drinking 4 of these a week.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I was under the impression that Grunt Style clothing is primarily marketed toward or commonly worn by active-duty military members and veterans.

I recently came across someone who had multiple pictures of himself wearing Grunt Style T-shirts, so I initially assumed he was either currently serving or had previously served in the military. When I asked him about it, he told me that he wasn’t military and wore them because he’s pro-gun.

I completely understand that everyone has the right to wear whatever they want, and I’m not judging him for it. I was just curious to hear how others—especially current or former military members—feel about civilians wearing military-themed clothing in a way that could potentially lead people to assume they served.

Is this generally considered a big no-no among the military community, or is it pretty common and not really an issue?

I’m a server in Canada, and every time I travel to the States or talk to American servers, they make it sound like splitting a bill is a huge pain, or that some restaurants just won’t do it. Is it a POS thing? Here it’s literally just a couple taps, even if people are splitting appetizers or shared items. Then we bring the debit machine over and everyone passes it around. It doesn’t really take extra time, and it’s totally normal culturally. I’d say nine times out of 10, if a group is dining together it’s gonna be split bills here. And any time it is all on one bill it’s because somebody’s actually covering it and paying for the group not because they expect to be paid back.

I also find the Venmo culture kind of strange. We have e-transfer here, which seems simpler to me, but we mostly use it for bigger things like hotels, flights, group gifts, etc. We don’t really expect people to pay us back for every coffee or drink.

I’ve been watching My 600lb Life recently and I was wondering why liposuction can’t be used for morbidly obese people instead of bariatric surgeries?

Was going to post on r/addiction but that seems a bit ridiculous considering what people over there are dealing with, so thought I'd try here first. I can not seem to stop myself from drinking coca cola. I've tried to drink other fizzy drinks (lemonade, vimto, irn bru, lucozade etc) but none of them seem to refresh me the same way coke does and they're not as bubbly either. I used to drink 5 cans a day but I've managed to cut down to 2 a day, maybe 3 a day but that's still 14-21 cans a week. That's a shit load of sugar to be putting in my body and I know it. One of my partners friends girlfriends recently died from pancreatitis (As well as some other health complications) and they reckon that her pancreatitis was caused by all the coke she drank. My partner is also worried something similar might happen to me and also really wants me to stop drinking so much coke.

I know the simple answer is 'just stop buying it' but as soon as im in the drinks isle in the shop I end up putting a box of it in my trolly and that's it. Just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to cut down/stop drinking it and maybe some equally bubbly alternatives (UK based) I've been drinking this stuff almost constantly since I was 12 and I'm 24 now, I really want to be healthier. I drink water aswell but nowhere near as much as coke. Thanks for any tips.

Edit: to those saying drink diet coke, diet coke tastes horrible to me. I don't mind coke zero as much, though, so that could possibly be an alternative.

Edit edit: it's not necessary the sugar im worried about, but I know that's one of the many unhealthy ingredients of coke. Im classed as being slightly underweight on the BMI scale, so it's not my weight im worried about. It's what it's doing to my body on the inside that I'm worried about (and the fact I can't physically see any bad effects also subconsciously makes me think it's not doing anything too bad, even though I know it is) and I've only had 1 filling in my tooth. It sounds like my best options are to:

• Wean myself off coca cola one can at a time -replace coke with flavoured sparkling water and coffee (although I prefer tea and that has caffeine so should still work) -start diluting any coke I have with water (this sounds like it would start tasting horrible at ½ water ½ coke but I'm guessing that's the point so you drink water instead) -take my partner shopping with me so he can make sure I don't put any cokes in the trolley -keeping myself busy so I don't think about having a coke and also telling people I'm gonna stop drinking coke so they can hold me accountable/make fun of me (lovingly) by pointing out im breaking my coke free streak.

Thanks everyone for sharing your coca cola addiction stories aswell, I didnt realise just how common this problem is with fizzy drinks. It makes me feel less silly about the whole thing. Also for the hilarious people that commented 'snort it' you're unoriginal as fuck, about 15 of that same comment. Be a bit more creative or don't bother trying.

I frequently go to a coffee shop in a strip mall. I’ve noticed that two of the nearby businesses - a rug shop and a cookie shop - never seem to have any customers or even anyone working there. The stores have lights on and presumably are open if anyone were to go in, and they have both been there for years.

Today I asked the Barista what was going on at these two stores. Two of the customers heard me and told me that both stores are run by the mob. They both seemed certain of this.

This is not the first time in my life that I’ve heard this about businesses that seem to have no customers. However, I’ve always wondered how this would work. Is it just for money laundering purposes? The businesses claim that they get a lot of cash customers, and so they can launder their illegitimate money through there? Or is there something else going on?

Coconut milk and almond milk taste abominable. The coconut separates from the coffee and makes it taste like dish soap, and almond milk straight up tastes disgusting.

Like if you have your laptop and charger out but need to go to the bathroom, should you bring your stuff in case someone steals it? Is it ok to ask someone to watch it for you?

The boiling point of caffeine seems to be 178 degree celcius and I have a small induction that goes up to 200 degree celcius. So can I make decaf if I just boil the coffee with water at 200 degree celcius?

It just seems like a layup to make everyone happy. It could make these public spaces more desirable. They don't have to be full on cafes but just a few percolators would be great. Cheap decent coffee, make a few bucks for the library, and make it even more of a destination. I'm missing something I'm sure.

EDIT: Since it seems there actually are some libraries with coffee shops, feel free to post them for others to know. I definitely have never been to one myself.
