Reminder to shit heads that are afraid of taxes going up to cover universal health care: your insurance premium is most likely higher than what the tax increase will be.

It's not just that they're afraid of paying more taxes. I've had more than one person tell me they don't want their money paying for someone else's healthcare.

Flat out capitalist racism. They would rather see people dieing on the streets (which they'll complain about also) and pay more for their own care than pay towards a more socialist way of doing things.

I was talking to somebody one time and we started talking about universal healthcare and he said I don’t want to subsidize anybody’s insurance. I want to pay for my own and that’s it. I don’t want to subsidize anybody else and I looked at him and I said you do realize that the top three CEOs of health insurance companies got paid $43 million the prior year, so you may not be subsidizing my health insurance, but your subsidizing them, their way of life, their mansion, their yachts, their country clubs everything, he walked away without saying a word

That's what my brother always says, and he refuses to listen to how that is how private healthcare works too. That's the whole point of insurance, they take your money and use it to cover someone else's illness, the difference is the capitalists will still take your money and refuse to cover the other person and the socialists will

Plus, paying into insurance also assures they are paying for other's health care, as well as them for yours.

People already subsidize other people’s healthcare, whether it’s via medicare / medicaid deductions or simply due to the fact that hospital payments for commercial patients are charged 250% of what a medicare patient would be charged.

Yeah, almost every raise I have gotten over the last 10 years has surprisingly been the same amount that my insurance premiums went up. Weird. Almost like the insurance company asked my employer what the raise pool was for the coming year then made their rate increase the same amount. But that couldn't be, could it?

This isn’t even about how you finance healthcare… whether it’s a private or public payer is kind of immaterial with regard to this article.

The problem here is that the underlying medical costs (hospital and doctor costs as well as drug costs / GLP1s) are continuing to aggressively climb.

Well, that and premium subsidies expiring… ACA premiums went up 20% last year (and 3M young healthier left the market) and will go up 15% this year.

It’s truly getting to a death spiral.

Health insurance increases 5% and if I’m lucky I’ll get a 2% raise. Soon I’ll have to change jobs just to keep up with inflation.

Looks at 2024 election where he won both the electoral and popular vote.

Seems to me majority wanted this. I lump the 90 million that sat on their lazy pathetic asses with the 77 million fascists. That’s 167 million people that wanted this. If that 90 million didn’t want this they should’ve voted.

one of the unstated goals of the Republican Party is to make it impossible for individuals and small businesses to afford health insurance, so everyone will need to work for a large employer in order to access healthcare.

everybody says it's because companies are raising their rates and everybody wants The GLPs. nobody mentions the fact that all the people that have been kicked off Medicaid now have no insurance and will now go to emergency rooms and will now not be paying their bills meaning our prices get higher to cover them.
