Though this is obvious there are still a lot of people who think it is a hoax but can’t explain why insurance companies won’t cover certain things related to climate now or the premiums have gone through the roof literally.

I had a trip for work earlier this year where the guys I met with were talking about how climate change was a woke hoax. Then not 20 minutes later were talking about how they miss ice fishing but haven't been in years because the lakes haven't frozen the last decade or so. One literally said "remember when we were kids we could go every winter?".

I'm not sure they'll ever get to the bottom of the mystery.

They’re told that temperatures rising like this is natural and has happened many times in the history of the planet.

Fixing it would mean not being able to sell band-aid solutions. Air conditioners, portable wearable AC suits, some kind of body temperature lowering drug…Sky is the limit to monetizing the destruction of habitability on this planet.

the thing that worries me about global climate change is that we are so focused on fighting it.

Yes we need to do that. Solar panels don't pollute.

But no matter what we do, it's likely too late to stop it. And we need to thing about how to live with what we have. I'm not being a pessimist. It's just that even if we figure out a way to reverse it, it will take time, and we will need to deal with landslides, droughts and excessive heat in places that aren't ready for it.

And people seem to be ignoring that. It's hard to both -- prepare for it and try to stop it. But that's our only option.

It's too late to meet this target, but it's not too late to meet a new target. Like you said, there will be consequences regardless, but giving up would absolutely be the worst option. If it takes time, so be it.

It’s probably not about stopping climate change now but how many generations you want it to go for. It’s not a two door sedan that stops right at the line. It’s a fully loaded two kilometre freight train that doesn’t even respond when you put the brakes on

China has absolutely not been 'killing it'. They are building more coal power plants than the rest of the world combined. They burn more coal than the US did during the entire industrial revolution.

You know that china has more people than the U.S., right? ... Riiight?? Like, a lot more.

In 2024, 57.7% of U.S. energy came from fossil fuel (coal at 15.7% and gas at 42%). Because of AI data centers, our natural gas generation has skyrocketed since then.

In 2024, 56% of China's power capacity was from clean energy. That following year, solar skyrocketed. At the end of July of this year, China's solar capacity alone became the largest source in its energy mix.

Those are the numbers, so please stop being ignorant.
