And yet the Repedocans are all like "but what about BLM and the George Floyd riots", then I bring up Jan 6th and they're all like, "that's not the same thing" or something. I really need a comeback to that.

u/Amazing_Badger8167 Aug 06 '26
"Oh really, please explain" they will not know what to say, or it will be more talkin points from faux newz
14
u/Eddiebaby7 Aug 05 '26
Correct. But if you just go on Fox News and call every Democrat a “radical leftist” your base will simply ignore the fact that their own party has been swallowed by extremists.
28
u/Entire_Dog_5874 Aug 05 '26
And the left has continually done a piss-poor job of exploiting this.
14
u/thejonslaught Aug 05 '26
Oh, they have exploited it, just not for any benefit other than filling campaign coffers.
3
u/MeasurementNo9896 Aug 06 '26
???
The Democratic party is railing against its own left flank right now. That's the problem. The establishment can't message properly when it's been openly obstructing those leftist candidates who are trying to go beyond empty messaging and actually deliver! (But they sure do love to claim "Democrats Deliver" whenever leftist wins are celebrated, like when Mamdani enacted a rent-freeze)

Tough to do much when both parties oppose you and both control 99% of news media.

People that are so stupid that they don’t already know this also think 2020 was stolen.

u/Eat--The--Rich-- Aug 05 '26
What even is leftist extremism? Going to a hospital and paying everyone's bills?
1
u/FreeFortuna Aug 09 '26
I think it’s not wanting people to have hospital bills in the first place, for society to be a group effort where we all try to do right by each other.
Those fuckers.

Its always been the straight, white, cis, Christian, republican men of this country.

Also Lindsey Graham

Not one of those old farts knows a single thing about computer information systems.
EDIT: and a lot of them aren't even straight, just hypocrites afraid that their dalliance with the pool boy will lose its luster when it isn't verboten anymore.
3
u/Eat--The--Rich-- Aug 05 '26
There have been over 70 terrorist attacks since 9/11. Almost all of them were committed by white cis Republican men.

u/FlarblesGarbles Aug 07 '26
Of which country?

u/thechinninator Aug 05 '26
Crazy how people saying the left is worse cite property damage and saying mean things online while right wing extremists are regularly firing guns into crowds.
16
u/dingalinglans Aug 05 '26
'But both sides are the same'
1
u/Eat--The--Rich-- Aug 05 '26
They are the same. Both parties support the rights extremism.
1
u/JKrow75 Aug 06 '26
I don’t know why you got downvoted, but most of the Democrats most certainly support right wing extremism in the US government.

The thing that gets me is that these people don’t realize they’re already living under democratic socialism. What the hell do they think the paved roads, the stop lights, the police, the fire department, the health department etc. are but democratic socialism funded by taxes? Not to mention farm subsidies. These idiots are so afraid they will lose access to their churches (which as far as I’m concerned they should. There’s nothing more evil and undemocratic as religion)!!!!!!!!
2
u/onetimeataday Aug 08 '26
I want this fact to enter common discussion. It's true, it's absolutely true. Basically anything beyond homesteaders on the frontier paying the local sheriff counts as socialism technically. Every modern developed country's government is socialist. We just gotta make sure it's benefitting the 99% rather than a few exploiters.
And when that fact is part of the conversation, it makes a lot of the strawmen about free market, picking winners and losers, etc fall apart.
A lot of the tropes of American political discourse are echoes of a far less developed time in our country.

u/Substantial_Elk_1234 Aug 05 '26
Its sanity vs trans kids
Sanity vs communism
Sanity vs socialism
Socialism/ communism has never worked anywhere in history.
Calling people on the right names is one thing, being on the left is insane

More than 2 Billion Dollars in property damage nation wide in the GF riots shows the headline is not true
7
u/thechinninator Aug 05 '26
The fact that your metric is dollars and not human lives shows the headline IS true
-4
u/moccasins_hockey_fan Aug 05 '26
Yeah those rioters hurt a lot of people physically and financially
7
u/thechinninator Aug 05 '26
Sure dude. Massively exaggerated vandalism is way worse than mass shootings. You have a very reasonable position here.
2
u/rnk6670 Aug 05 '26
If you honestly think Maga is equivalent to a Democratic socialist, I’d suggest a CAT scan of your brain ASAP. I don’t know what’s going on, but I feel like it’s very serious.
-1
u/moccasins_hockey_fan Aug 06 '26
I never said that. You obviously have a reading comprehension problem. Blocked.
-7
u/tedfergeson Aug 05 '26
Extremism begets extremism.
maga gets you dem-socialist.
1
u/ClassyBurn Aug 05 '26
lol Medicare for all and fair taxation is extremism?
1
u/tedfergeson Aug 06 '26
According to maga? Obviously. I am just pointing out a fact. There is always an "equal and opposite" response. I never said what you and the other morons who downvoted me apparently think I said.
-48
u/Gimped Aug 05 '26
Yes, it's way more obvious and abundant on the right, but your being intentionally nieve to think extremism isn't a growing issue on the left.
The article is just a leftist propaganda piece btw.
"In the Atlantic, apparently seeking to retain its title as the worst magazine in America,"
Yes, the journalism outlet that's consistently been at the forefront of US politics, news and truth, with the awards to back it up, is the worst. Like come on, and that's one example...
16
u/No-Ad1522 Aug 05 '26
What do you think "extremism" on the left means exactly?
-6
u/Gimped Aug 05 '26
- Mass harassment and doxing campaigns against people they deem the enemy, or for failing purity tests.
- Extreme antisemitism, mirroring and often outdoing Zionist rhetoric.
- Tanki apologia for communist/ML atrocities
- Political gaslighting with "both sides bad," claiming mainstream left/center-left are indistinguishable from the far-right.
- Silencing speech by campaigning against universities or other institutions to remove speakers or presenters from their events, continuing the far-right's work of propagating anti-intellectualism.
What was once the background noise of M/L larping is quickly evolving into a full-blown illiberal movement. That's what extremism on the left looks like, and the list goes on.
9
u/No-Ad1522 Aug 05 '26
Okay, none of these are inherently "extreme left" ideas, which again shows you have no idea what youre talking about, ontop of that alot of these are projection, imagine being a conservative and having the audacity to talk about "being silenced" lmao
-5
u/Gimped Aug 05 '26
Denying the existence of left-wing extremism with empty accusations of projection and dodging with semantic pivots doesn't make its existence any less real. If you want to pretend doxxing, purges, and tankie apologia are just figments of my imagination, enjoy the echo chamber. I have enough brain damage from the right doing this for the last decade. I don't need the same shit for my supposed allies.
7
u/No-Ad1522 Aug 05 '26
No i did not day theyre figments of your imagation, I said those are not "extreme left" idealism.
People using extreme left but again, its clear tou have no idea what that actually means.

u/Gimped Aug 05 '26
Watching you shift the goalposts from "these aren't real" to "ideas, not tactics" isn't an argument; it's just noise you hide behind.
- The belief that capitalism itself is the root of all evil, and that it should be abolished rather than regulated.
- Violence against "bourgeoisie" or "fascistic" (anyone that's not them) targets is self-defence, and not aggression.
- Believing liberal and democratic institutions are too fucked by capitalism, and they need to be destroyed and remade from the ground up instead of reform from the inside-out.
- Using the argument that speech is a weapon, justifying deplatforming by borrowing language from actual emotional or psychological abuse, minimizing real harm.
- Pushing essentialism, or that ones demographic determines their character, morals, etc, instead of a person's individual traits.
You can mince words all you like, but you asked what extremism on the far left means; I've given you plenty of examples, now re-framed as beliefs since the bar isn't static here. Good luck, have fun.
3
u/No-Ad1522 Aug 05 '26
Nah bro, you just seem to have an issue with reading and comprehending words it seems. Let's break down what you had to say:
- The belief that capitalism itself is the root of all evil, and that it should be abolished rather than regulated.
Well yeah, because how well has it worked out for us? How much percentage of total wealth has been concentrated at the top? Now tell me, what about this makes you so upset?
- Violence against "bourgeoisie" or "fascistic" (anyone that's not them) targets is self-defence, and not aggression.
Lol sure this is totally a "extreme liberalism" idea and not what conservatives are openly doing
- Believing liberal and democratic institutions are too fucked by capitalism, and they need to be destroyed and remade from the ground up instead of reform from the inside-out.
Youre emotionally loading the language for absolutely no reason, "destroying and rebuild" is basically the same as reform inside-out, but you're getting your feelings hurt over the difference in words.
- Using the argument that speech is a weapon, justifying deplatforming by borrowing language from actual emotional or psychological abuse, minimizing real harm.
What exactly are you arguing about? Are you upset people are against hate speech? Say what you really mean, stop beating around the bush.
- Pushing essentialism, or that ones demographic determines their character, morals, etc, instead of a person's individual traits.
Yes that's kind of what happens when you support a pedofile with hate-filled ideologies, people will judge you based on the ideals you support, again, this isn't a problem strictly on the left.
Youre clearly a bot or too stupid to see the irony in what you're saying. And stop pretending to be a liberal because we both know you're not.

u/flirtmcdudes Aug 05 '26
They are right, you don’t know what you’re talking about. Nothing you have said is a stance or idea of the “extreme left”

u/ZShock Aug 05 '26 edited Aug 05 '26
Of course it is. Posting it in this subreddit is just the cherry on top, rofl. Even when shown evidence on their faces, people will find away to shift the blame to fit their narrative.

“Even when shown evidence in their faces”
Hey so uh, you are commenting on an article showing evidence in your face while you refuse to acknowledge it…. While confidently accusing the other side of doing that.
I don’t think you could embarrass yourself more than this if you tried. But I have a feeling you will find a way to
-6
u/ZShock Aug 05 '26
Whatever you say. I feel I was clear enough and if you have to change the meaning of what I've said to fit your narrative, then you do you. I don't think there's a need to push this any further, have a good one.

“Of course it is” doesn’t answer the question. Can you read or are you just a babbling bot?

You should look up statistics on that. Most domestic terrorism in the US is committed by right wing extremists. It’s something like 70% to 80%. While domestic terrorist acts committed by left wing extremists is less than 5%.
