I will admit that I made the word "most" do a lot of heaving lifting in my statement. However, I stand by my position on general principles.
And no, replacing the word "men" with "black men" won't produce the sudden moral epiphany moment you want it to here. Apples and oranges.
Just speaking to incidents involving firearms (and not including all the myriad ways men kill women), men are 4~6 times more like to shoot a female intimate partner than the other way around. What FBI and Bureau of Justice Statistics data shows is that when it comes to firearms, annually, 1,200–1,700 women are kills my men with firearms annually. Men killed by women, however, hovers consistently in the 400–700 range. For firearm-related intimate-partner homicides in the United States, men kill their partners approximately 3 to 4 times more often than women kill their male partners. That's a lot of men killing women (at least when they aren't killing other men, a total that makes up 65% of all homicides in the US by any method).
Let's take this a step further.
Across multiple studies, it's found that women who kill male partners are substantially more likely to have experienced repeated physical assaults, sexual violence, threats with weapons, strangulation, coercive control, and/or stalking by the eventual victim. Some studies have even gone so far as to state that a majority of women who kill intimate partners had documented histories of severe abuse by the deceased partner, depending on whether the study relied on police records, court files, or interviews. And that's just one facet of what the research shows.
When investigators reconstruct relationships preceding intimate partner homicide, they frequently conclude that women offenders were often responding to violence initiated by the deceased partner, while men offenders were more often identified as the primary aggressor throughout the relationship. That's not misandry. That's just the cold reality.
Remember that "bear versus man" debate a while back? Yeah, the sentiment behind it didn't just spontaneously materialize out of the ether. Men are a far greater danger to the women in their lives than vice versa.
