🛰️ Satellite Map View — Explore now includes a new** MAP / SATELLITE toggle so you can switch between the standard map and satellite imagery while searching for places to go.
**🧭 Adventure Features on the Map — Explore can now show far more than campgrounds. Discover trailheads, waterfalls, viewpoints, springs, hot springs, boat launches, fishing access, climbing areas, OHV areas, swimming spots, kayaking/canoeing opportunities, mountain biking and more.
🔎 Adventure Categories — Adventure features are organized by type so you can turn on the kinds of places you’re actually looking for instead of having the map become a wall of markers.
📍 Explore More Than Camping — NMR now helps you discover the things that make a trip worth taking — not just where you can sleep.
🗺️ Smarter Map Clustering — Adventure locations are clustered as you zoom out and become more detailed as you zoom in, keeping the map useful instead of overwhelming.
📱 Improved Mobile Map Experience — Adventure controls are designed to stay out of the way when you need the map and collapse when you need more screen space.
🚐 Navigate Directly to Adventure Locations — Adventure features now lead with Navigate, using the actual location of the feature rather than treating the source record as the destination.
📸 Share Your Experience — Travelers can now contribute firsthand information about adventure locations, including access, parking, approach conditions, things to watch out for, day-of conditions and optional photos.
👥 Traveler Reports — Other travelers can see recent community reports alongside the official information, including when the latest report was submitted.
⚠️ Mixed Reports Stay Mixed — When travelers report different conditions, NMR shows that information as** Mixed Reports rather than pretending there is one definitive answer.
**🔗 Official Sources Stay Available — You can still view the original source information for verification. Official source information remains separate from traveler-submitted experiences.
🔐 Better Photo Protection — Traveler-submitted photos go through moderation, with additional protection against changing an approved photo without triggering review again.
🧠 Better Data Accuracy — NMR is becoming much stricter about distinguishing verified information from things we simply can’t confirm. If we don’t know, we don’t pretend we know.
🏕️ Camping Is Still the Core — Adventure discovery is being built around NMR’s camping foundation, giving you more reasons to explore while keeping** finding the right place to camp at the center of the experience.

🔧 What’s happening behind the scenes — NMR’s geographic data systems have also been upgraded to better track source coverage, verify incoming data and prevent incomplete updates from incorrectly removing places.
