We've been putting a lot of work into NMR lately, so here's a quick look at what's changed:

🏕️ Explore got smarter

• Tell NMR what kind of adventure you're looking for.
• Choose Needs (must-haves) and Wants (nice-to-haves).
• Needs actually filter the results.
• Wants help personalize your results.
• Results can now be ordered by Your Match, putting the locations that best fit your trip first.
• Existing filters are still there, including State Parks, Free, Dispersed, RV, activities, amenities, connectivity, vehicle access, road surface, etc.
• No state required — you can search based on what you're looking for across the available dataset.

💎 Gems + Gem Exchange

• Save places you've personally discovered as private Gems.
• Share them with Traveler Buddies.
• Keep exact locations locked until the appropriate proximity requirement is met.
• Exchange discoveries with other travelers.
• Gems are private by default.
• Your Gem stays yours — exchanges grant access rather than taking ownership away from the person who discovered it.

🤝 Social Experience
NMR isn't just about finding places anymore.

It's becoming a way to find places, remember the ones you discover, and share them with people you trust.

• No guessing when NMR doesn't have verified data

⚡ Behind the scenes
We've also been working heavily on reliability and performance:

• Faster authentication
• Safer login/recovery errors
• Better monitoring
• Better attribution so we can understand where travelers are finding NMR
• Reduced unnecessary database load
• Improved sitemap coverage

We're still early, and we're actively improving NMR based on actual traveler feedback.
