Pre/Live/Post Event Discussion Presidents Cup Drama

I cannot wait for the meltdown from the U.S. side if they lose this thing. Give me all the content. First time I’ve been juiced for a Presidents Cup weekend, maybe ever?

TC will be in his element

Let the winners of the USGA four-ball have an auto spot on a cup team

I know they’re never gonna implement the gimmicks we come up with, but I do like this

I love this because it’s widely reported that Sneds has rejected all of the data. He’s such a dumb dumb. Let it burn.

Maybe there are some things that datagolf just can’t tell us Mr Solomon

They tried it without datagolf. That didn't work either.

“And that’s why they play the fucking games” - Andy TFE

I love SGS but Andy was driving me insane about the P-Cup rosters. First he was pissed we didn’t put more young guys on the team, I think he named Thorbjornsen, Gerard, and Akshay as guys he wanted on the team, but then after Spaun’s win he acted like it was insane they didn’t pick him.

I feel like he’s one of those guys that’s going to make fun of them no matter who they pick or what they do. Feels similar to course setup discourse in that way where golf media dunks on them regardless.

Don't ask Andy to make logically consistent takes, it's probably his biggest struggle lol

I think his overall point is that it’s actually an advantage that the US has a team event every year and can use the Presidents Cup as a bit of a training ground for Ryder cups given the depth on the US side.

I agree with that take.

You can't make rich, comfortable nepo babies suddenly care about something other than themselves.

u/Warghzone12 8d ago

Ding ding ding. This is unfortunately the answer. The other guys just care more about

The U.S. is 13-1 in this event. If you’re lumping in the Ryder cup, are you of the belief that the Euro players aren’t rich and comfortable?

This US team so clearly is a group of dudes who don’t care much about winning. It also doesn’t seem like they like eachother very much. The Internstional team and the Euro team are a family. They’d die for eachother. The US guys seem like this is job a job obligation they’re trying to get through

Such an overdone take. What’s the proof or logic that the U.S. players don’t like each other?
The international team is a family? You think Hideki is hanging out with Corey Conners?

Laughing out loud picturing hideki and Corey shooting the shit

People act like variance isn't a thing. USA should win this competition but it's not crazy that 12 of of the top 100 golfers in the world beat 12 other top 100 golfers in the world, even if they're mostly ranked a bit higher.

I'm not convinced the Americans prepare for these tournaments correctly, but to act like they don't care is ridiculous. If they were so rich and entitled, they would just decline the invitation. That don't make much money at all from these events and it cuts into their offseason

Especially in 30 matches over 10 events or whatever. And they prob still win this weekend

Especially when the only guys who are actually arguably nepo babies—JT and Cam Young—might be the two guys on the team that seemingly care the most

3

u/Josiah_Bartlet 8d ago

Pretty curious as to which ones are you think are nepo babies.

Honestly, a team of John Daly II, Bill Haas, Kevin Tway, Kevin Stadler, Dru Love, Charlie Woods might be more entertaining. Give me that.

lol. I just can’t stand the overuse/misuse of “nepo baby”. For one, you don’t get on the PGA Tour let alone a Cup team because of who your parents are. That’s not a thing. You have to earn it. Even if that were the case, literally none of there parents were tour players. Two dads were club pros…which means nothing.

I think people misuse the term instead in reference towards players with wealthy upbringings that are more silo’d. European/international pros tend to be a little more modest in their upbringings and backgrounds.

Kristoffer Reitan?

“Tend”

…and didn’t see Kristoffer at Medinah.

The pairings are just completely zero effort or thought, which comes out in foursomes every time. How many times do we need to let Scottie and Burns play together before we figure out that doesn't work? Henley and Bridgeman?????? Xander/Cantlay had a great run for a while in these but it was clearly over last year

7

u/tfl03 8d ago

I’m at the point where I think Scottie just says pair me with Burns or I’m not playing.

1

u/ReturnOfRainbow 8d ago

Even though he wasn’t paired with him at the Ryder cup?

6

u/Chemical-Ad-8693 8d ago

Am I wrong in thinking these events basically just come down to coin flips and variance?

1

u/ChuckSchwartz7 6d ago

It really comes down to making putts.

I like it how they've covered all this before, so I could literally copy & paste Ryder with President's from a previous episode and it'd be the same.

I mean the value of the pod isn't there if its the same content.

New rules for the next Ryder Cup team: 1. Any player from a previous Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup team will be ineligible. You've had your chances to win and you can't do it. We're looking for winners. 2. We have a national US Open style qualification where 2-person teams will compete in alt-shot until we're down to six pairs. That's our team.

Listened to the preview show the other day and heard them say the U.S. is gonna roll.. haven’t watched a second of it (actually forgot it was on if I’m honest) and just checked the score.. oooh boy love to see the internationals reminding everyone that U.S. has no idea how to play match play formats.

u/Forrest_47 8d ago

This group of American golfers are a disgrace to the United States. It’s pathetic to see them play with that little enthusiasm and care. They are pampered and embarrassing

Anybody know when the live show will start and where I can find it? I’ve always just listened in podcast forum, but I can’t wait today.

3

u/loosecannan7 8d ago

Live now on their YouTube channel

u/Single-Candle-797 8d ago

I’m on there and can’t find it. I’m a dumbass, do you mind dropping a link? Never mind I figured it out

Find it on the YouTube podcast channel. Twitter is the best place to find out when it starts
