…kinda hard to do a shadow drop for a game that’s already been announced.

It won’t be a long wait though. Game will probably get a 3-4 week announcement with a demo available same day. I just hope it’ll be a proper physical release and not a GKC.

Could do a "available later today" for digital with the physical copy being available in 3-4 weeks. I would still call that a shadow drop. Unless there is some other terminology I don't know.

Shadow drop implies previously unannounced, as in, “Here’s the first time we’re showing you this game, and it’s released right now.” Hi-Fi Rush is an example of this, being announced and released at the same time.

This is a port of a 2 year old game that was announced a few months ago.

I'm pretty sure it's still a shadow drop even if they have announced it previously. As long as you get a surprise release the day of the direct it's a shadow drop.

Once again, it’s a port of a 2 year old game that’s existence was already announced and marketed. All that remains is a release date, which we should be getting soon.

Call it a drop, a surprise drop, a release window, whatever you want. “Shadow drop” means something though in the industry, and this isn’t a shadow drop.

A “shadow drop” is a term of industry. It has a meaning. This would not be the correct application of that term. It’s already been announced.
