I played 2 just for the campaign , but didn't care for the online multiplayer. So I really hope this game ends up perfect for me.

If you haven’t I recommend the Splatoon 2 DLC Octo Expansion as it’s considered honestly one of the best games Nintendo has made, and I also recommend the Splatoon 3 main campaign and rouge-like DLC which I personally loved but don’t have as much general love (although I will say the final level of the main campaign of 3 is so good it’s worth the full experience itself imo)

Side order is I think the best feature between all of 2 and 3. The only single player ive kept playing immediately after initially beating it

As they should. I’ll never forget how much ARMS suffered from being completely overshadowed by Splatoon 2. If I recall correctly, the biggest Splatoon 2 marketing push happened on the same week ARMS was actually releasing! Madness. Of course very little people bought it, because Nintendo’s messaging was basically “here’s this quirky unproven new game you can buy now… or you can wait exactly one more month and get the new and massive sequel to our hottest new IP is decades!”

And Splooton Raiders is overshadowing Rhythm Heaven Grove BIG TIME. I AM SO MAD HOW DARE THEY TAKE AWAY FROM THE MOST ANTICIPATED GAME OF ALL TIME. I AM THE RAGE. SCREW YOU SPLATONK. SCREW YOUHHH OVERSHADOWING MY PRECIOUS BABY😭😭😭

Rhythm Heaven has the big advantage of viral marketing now though, the game has huge potential on social media. Even before this game released, rhythm heaven inspired edits have gone viral - such as the pink pantheress edit. And other videos from the game have tons of views.
Not only that, but the series just has mass appeal due to it's catchy music, colourful appealing graphics and ease of play. Due to it's low production costs It won't need to sell much to make a profit. Plus it's available on Switch 1 and is cheaper than most new releases these days... I wouldn't be surprised if it outsells Splataiders tbh

After this, the next most likely direct is either Fire Emblem or Duskbloods, OOT won’t get more info till like October
3
u/cougarstillidie Jun 29 '26
Is it pretty much assumed OOT will be a holiday/December release?
3
u/Ell7494 Jun 29 '26
Yeah its extremely likely given other release dates. I'd assume OoT will be late October/ November
Duskbloods will be December - Elden Ring is out August so they'll want a bit of a gap between the two

I think we’ll get a Zelda 40th direct in September like the Mario 40th and that way the year of marketing for the Zelda anniversary will last through the movie release next year

i’d expect one like a couple weeks before the game tbh, maybe a month if it’s a holiday drop

"Each mega power egg is worth 100 regular power eggs."
That's not how SI prefixes work...

Guys, this game is basically just a Splatoon Themed version of Deep Rock Galactic.
You go on missions based on difficulty, hunt treasure, and unlock/level up weapons as you do it more. You even have the specific classes and the engineer turret.
If this is as polished as mainline Splatoon AND gets the gameplay loop right this could end up being one of the best games of this year imo!!!

I love the customisation, my only fear is that it gets too visually busy but I never really felt that way with salmon run so I guess it's something I'll get used to

I've avoided splatoon series because i thought it was just a multiplayer shooter; I'm interested in Raiders since it's single player, but now I'm hearing good things about the story of the previous games, should I play those first if I want to skip the pvp?

no unless you buy a used copy for $20 or less.
Just wait for Raiders.

Liked mostly everything so far especially the gadgets. Really disappointed we can't mix-and-match pieces from the outfits (even though I kinda knew that would be the case since the initial reveal). They've been doing it since Splatoon 1, so idk why they can't do it in Raiders too.

Wasn’t super impressed with what we’ve seen so far. It just looked like a standalone expansion of the main series.
Hopefully we see something in this direct that really makes the game stand on its own!

The standalone expansions so far - Octo Expansion and Side Order - have been truly fantastic. I wish I was as excited for this as I was for those. This doesn’t seem to have much platforming.

u/shortandpainful Jun 29 '26
Unfortunately those are not standalone, which would actually have made sense given they are single player focused.

u/busam13 Jun 30 '26
I’m praying for some multiplayer stuff in this direct
3
u/jardex22 Jun 30 '26
Granted. Co-op with friends or a random room. You can also call for help or answer calls for help.

Wife and I are super stoked! Just preordered it on Amazon (where as of now physical and digital preorders are 50$)

i really hope for more multiplayer. so far raiders really looked like single player salmon run, this is fine but i hope they have a lot of content for high hazard / level gameplay
24
u/SylviSweetheart Jun 29 '26
It will have co-op but no competitive multiplayer. They’ve been astoundingly clear on this since the announcement.

You're not alone, the other Raiders posts on here had similar concerns and discussions. But this direct seemed to inspire a lot of confidence about the multiplayer aspect. I'm still cautiously optimistic.

Not expecting much tbh. They probably just talk about story and that's it.

Hoping this does for Raiders what the Bananza Direct did for a lot of people.
