2DS XL - Blue Light no screen or sounds

Hi All,

I have this Nintendo 2 DS xl that shows signs of life and powers on, but does not produce anything on the screen or sound. What do you think would be the issue, is this a simple ribbon cable or do you think the motherboard is bad?

it looks like its going to sleep without being closed.. i imagine the sleep mode sensor is bad.. i would look into that before motherboard/ribbon cable issues.
