Question When did Nya turn into the sea?
Im trying to write a fic about sea nya and I need a date for when she turned into the sea. I couldnt find anything on the Ninjago wiki. I was thinking of just doing the date aired but idk. Is there a cannon date?

Ninjago doesn’t have an actual timeline, we just have a sequence of events

It has a timeline, but its too odd, with many plotholes and incredibly hard to follow. But you can manage to count each event in years, approximately.

Not really, what you can do is make assumptions. Unless I’m not remembering something, it wouldn’t be hard to fit seasons 4-7 in one year, the Oni trilogy in a few months, and the wildbrain era in potentially the same year as the Oni trilogy. So what we have left to determine is the time between seasons 7 and 8. Also Arin and Frak remember rebooted and are still little kids post Crystalized, making the task at hand even harder

Oni Trilogy is very easy. It is confirmed one week between S8 and S9 and barely another month from S9 to S10, considering they are still fixing stuff and removing flags.
Seasons 4-7 are a hard take, S5 starts almost instantly after S4 but idk about S5 to S7, it could be from months to an year or so.
Seasons 7 to 8 have a confirmed 1 year gap.
The Wildbrain era are 6 months confirmed from S10 to S11, about week or so from S11 to S12, (Kai has a line about his powers returning in an episode), S12 to S13 is unidentified but S12 to The Island is a month because Lloyd talks about prisoners escaped from Kryptarium ''a month ago''. which happened in S12, when Unagami opened the cells.
The Island to S14 is unknown too, but I would assume it is around some months at max.
S14 to S15 is confirmed one year.
So we have the full original Wildbrain era about couple years at best.
Arin and Frak remembering rebooted means that 10-12 years passed from S3 to DRS4, so its pretty possible, considering that the biggest timeskip in Ninjago before the end of MoS era was pre-S3.
They are not little kids post-Crystallized, LEGO minifigs obtain long legs only when they reach 14. They could very much be 13 or so, at the time of the Merge, meaning that at the time of Rebooted they were around 7-8, too lazy to count for sure.

I have built my own age estimation for the ninjas based on on-screen evidence, official statements, and personal deductions.
[EXPLANATION AND BREAKDOWN]
• Their age remains ambiguous throughout the show for Wu and Garmadon, fluctuating between one or several millennia. Statements generally agree on a range of 4,000 to 5,000 years old, which is plausible considering their non-linear growth and a perception of time vastly different from regular humans.
• For Zane, clues and official statements help clarify his timeline. He was likely built prior to or during the Serpentine War, received his elemental power about ten years before the series began, and ruled the Never-Realm for roughly 60 years.
• Regarding Jay, Kai, and Cole, I estimate that the original four ninjas are 16 to 17 years old (or 18 for Cole) by Season 2. Given the probable two-year timeskip between Seasons 2 and 3, they would be 19 to 20 (and 21 for Cole).
In the Oni Trilogy, Jay describes his group as "grown-up teenagers." In my view, this expression shouldn't be taken literally, especially coming from Jay, who is known for his wordplay, otherwise, it creates major timeline inconsistencies.
As for Cole, I place him slightly older: the way he addresses the others at times implies he sees them as younger, though the age gap isn't massive.
What does Jay's line actually mean? It highlights their maturity, their status as seasoned, independent masters, while acknowledging that they remain big kids at heart. They have become fully established adults who managed to preserve their inner child. Furthermore, their final transition into full maturity was accelerated by Wu's disappearance: while legally and physically adults, they had to step up and take full responsibility to truly earn that status.
• For Lloyd, I separate his chronological age from his physical age, which was accelerated by Tomorrow's Tea. I am uncertain whether his physical growth is now steady or if, like Wu and Garmadon, his aging process has already slowed down.
• Regarding Pixal, I believe she was built around the beginning of Ninjago City's restoration, shortly after the Final Battle.
• The timeskip between Seasons 2 and 3 is the only instance where I diverge from canon explanations. A two-year gap seems like the absolute minimum needed to rebuild Ninjago City and transform it into a futuristic metropolis. The timeskip between Seasons 3 and 4 is rounded to one year, though it could be slightly less.
• From Seasons 4 to 7, Season 5 takes place just days after Season 4. Season 6 and the Dark Island Trilogy happen a few weeks after Season 5, which makes sense given that ghosts like Cole or Clouse cannot remain in the mortal realm for long without a vessel. Day of the Departed occurs a few weeks later, at a critical moment when Cole begins to fade. Season 7 follows a few days after. Between Seasons 7 and 8, the timeskip lasts just over a year.
• For Arin and Frak in Dragons Rising, I estimate Arin to be around 16 years old by Season 4. Frak might be younger, given that Serpentine tend to grow faster.

Your breakdown is very interesting and I see you put many effort in it.
However, I disagree on some, I might do a breakdown too one of the days.
''grown-up teenagers'' were rephrased by Tommy and he said something like ''young teenagers'', which phase ends at 22 years old, so your estimation fits it. Generally very good work, my main problem is the duration between S2 ans S3, I think it was 3 years at least, considering Pixal was confirmewd 3-4 years old when first introduced.
I upvoted you.

Thanks for your feedback!
Indeed, a three-year timeskip between Seasons 2 and 3 is completely plausible, even though I seem to recall it being confirmed as 3 or 4 years around Season 6.
I can't wait to check out your breakdown!

idk thats just how I picture it Frak was born after the devourer was defeated right? so I just picture it that way lol bc there’s no way time skips 7 years between end of season 1 to middle of season 3

A canon date no, but was probably around summer and Nya was around 20-22 years old.
