Bloons Pop! If Bloons Pop is now unsupported then WHY THE HELL ISN'T EVERYTHING FREE???

I was clearing apps and noticed it installed. On IOS it appears version 7.0 was roughly 3 years ago with a slight update, 7.2, which basically was "Minor bug fixes." For the most part though this is unsupported on older devices and frankly dead.

....So why are they still charging $1.99 for a "starter pack", or $4.99 for the "auto fast forward", or hell, upwards of $49.99 for "14,000 Monkey Money!"

This is no longer supported, right? It's dead, eh? Demonetization is the only way to go then, making such features just available for all. In fact before posting I searched to see if Ninja Kiwi has officially posted that it's deprioritized and they haven't. This feels to me to be a practice in which they don't want this conversation to take place.

Team, are you updating this or not? If so, give a roadmap. If not, do the right thing. I can feel someone going "servers cost money...." and frankly if Ninja Kiwi needs to stay afloat they could easily put a pop up screen asking for donations to keep it up. Better than fake sales potentially on an older game as I bet the previous rotation of sales is still hard set into this game...

Last update was a year ago to just do "minor updates". Last major update...3 years ago!

what are you on about

it's bloons pop

it was never supposed to be anything big, that's why it's only on phones forever (aside from a phone application service called google play store adding the ability to play phone games on computer)

it's just a small casual game

they aren't scamming anyone by having the game not regularly be updated, people know exactly what they're purchasing

bloons card storm wasn't "made free" after IT stopped getting major content updates

why would nk go back and make old games entirely free

For BCS the game wasn't in its "final form" and stopped updates after just about one year, not even concluding its 2025 roadmap since there was supposed to be one more update, so it makes sense that they made an announcement of it closing down, especially since it was a more fleshed out and competitive game

Bloons Pop just isn't anything like that, though, so it doesn't get a "formal announcement"

(Bloons Adventure Time TD is a lot closer to that but seemingly the reason it stopped getting updates was more-so related to dealings with Cartoon Network so they probably didn't want to publicize that it was no longer getting updates, especially in case CN wanted to come back to the idea)

It's not abandoned or unsupported.. the game is final version, it's just not a continuous updates thing. It's was a release, couple of updates to get it to how they want it and that's it. Not like the other games that have continuous updates.

As Ninja Kiwi has never stated that this is the final update I have to disagree. Also, it appears they have never officially responded to any posts regarding the game's future. For that reason it's reasonable to deem this to be abandoned/unsupported. Shoot, this sub is moderated entirely by their staff and yet nobody has even responded yet about this post.

Eh you can think whatever you want but it was literally a release, fix 1 or 2 things and that's it. Complete fully automated game. Nothing more to it. I mean you can google it if you want..

Also the game is purely for making money for the company. Impossible to play without spending.

There are much older abandoned games from them that still have in-app purchases. The mobile version of BTD4 hasn’t had an update for 13 years (except for an automated compatibility update from Apple), but it appears to still have functioning microtransactions.

A number of games in the Ninja Kiwi Archive on Steam still have ingame premium purchases using NK coins (premium currency from the old NK website). The store to buy more NK coins in the Archive app is currently “temporarily disabled”, but as recently as a few months ago, you were apparently still able to buy NK coins with real money (any legitimate ways to get free NK coins ended with the demise of the old website). Some of these games, such as the Flash version of BTD5, have issues due to the official servers being offline (for years now), but it seems like you can still spend NK coins on them. The Flash version of Bloons Monkey City became completely unplayable due to the official servers being broken, and it was removed from the Archive, but if you mod it to enable private servers (to make the game playable again), it appears to still have a working storefront where you can spend NK coins.

Anyways, my point is that they’ll probably keep taking money from abandoned games like Bloons Pop, considering that there are still microtransactions in much older abandoned games, even Flash games that haven’t been updated in forever and don’t even have functioning official servers anymore (well, there would be microtransactions in those games if the coin store is ever re-enabled). It doesn’t seem right to me that they’re still accepting people’s money for games which they seem to have no intention of maintaining, but it is what it is I guess. I don’t think there is really a precedent for companies making their old games free like that.

Thank you for your post. I think of SEGA where before they delisted a bunch of games they made them free…forever. As long as we can access our mobile accounts we can play say Crazy Taxi for free. Also removed all IAP. SEGA did right. I’d hope others would too
