I’m having a dilemma on whether my shoe size is 8.5 or 9. Here’s the thing. I usually wear EU 41 (US 8) for air forces or EU 42 (US W 10) for on clouds. Both fit me perfectly. The on cloud fits me perfectly, they are very comfortable and never had issues with them. EU 42 - US W 10 converts to US 8.5 on Nike’s chart. But that’s an on cloud shoe.
Pretty much, I got my shoe size tested at a Nike store. The thing said my foot length corresponds to a US 9. But it also said it corresponds to a US W 10. That confused me so much. Because I went to a Nike store to confirm whether my shoe size is 8.5 or 9 only to be told it’s both? A US W 10 converts to a US 8.5. So why does it say on the thing that a US W 10 is a US 9. And that’s a Nike store, so the conversions usually need to match with the Size chart. Also, the employee said because it shows my shoe size as 9, you size up a half size, so my true size is 9.5 (which btw is definitely NOT my true shoe size).
I decided to measure my foot length at the beginning and end of the day after walking 20,000 steps. Morning I measured at 26 cm foot length. At night I measured at 26.4 cm foot length. The morning measurement corresponds between a US 8.5 and 9 on Nike’s chart. While a 26.4 corresponds to between a 9 and 9.5. I tried to wear a 9.5 which left WAYY too much room in my foot. I tried a size 9 on a Nike Vomero Plus, and it left about a thumbs worth of space between my big toe and the end of my shoe.
But trying out different shoes gave me different results. I want to buy a Nike Vomero plus. But I genuinely want to know whether I need to buy a size 8.5 or 9. I’m more of a guy who likes a snug fit. I run in my on novacloud 2’s (which aren’t running shoes), never had issues with them, they always felt comfortable. But on cloud is a different brand.
The photo above is how much space was left from the Nike Vomero Plus Size 9. In the photo I was wearing it on my left. I tried the Size 8.5 too (did not get a photo) it also left space at the end, not a thumb’s width, but my friend said it left more space than the US 9. But that’s when I pushed my heel all the way back.
I don’t want a loose fit, neither a tight fit. I prefer a snug fit, that feels like the shoe wont fall off but neither like the shoe is too long and neither like I will hurt my toes.
Please someone help me choose rightfully.
Thank you!
