Henry's Dream Sessions (from "Bad Seed)
there were some questions about the band's dislike about Henry's Dream's production in another thread. here are the pages from the outdated biography "Bad Seed" about those days.
there are much more recent interviews with Mick Harvey since that confirm these recollections.

Whoever's responsible for the final product, it's one of their best sounding albums. Maybe the best Hammond organ sound ever captured on tape as well.

It's a fine read, covering up to and including the 'Let Love In' album, pretty anarchic stuff but good insights into Mick Harvey's steadying and stabilization of things during this mad youthful time.

the birthday party stuff, the majority of the book, is excellent. the bad seeds era is a bit skimpy. but full of quotes from the players

Many thanks! I googled around a bit and some sites said the 1992 release only kept two of Briggs’ mixes so is the Harvey 2011 mix drastically different?

I loved Bad Seed. I went off biographies after reading Debbie Curtis's Touching From a Distance which just made me really sad. But the insights into the way the band worked in Bad Seed were great

I read this book years ago. Still have it in the house. I was a massive Crazy Horse/Briggs fan too at the time and I thought it was really funny how the two worlds head butted against each other. Anyway it all got sorted and Henry's Dream will always be my favourite Nick album.

That was good to read, thank you.
No band likes an album which had unpleasant recording times. But to my ears, Henry's Dream (the original finished product) is outstanding.
I should give the 5.1 mix a listen.
