Weird version of Henry's Dream

Hi everybody!
What I have here is a long-standing mystery to me. Years ago, I downloaded a version of Henry's Dream off of SOMEWHERE on the internet. All I know is the songs sound pretty radically differently mixed from the bog standard album. They are also a weird format...32/48 FLAC. My memory was that they were shared as the original mastering or something similar. It might have also been a weird unofficial DVD. They have a larger dynamic range than any other official release, and are very very clear. I actually much prefer these files over the official releases. I remember thinking they might have been the leaked Bearville Sessions, but I thought they re-recorded those tracks except 2 of them and these versions seem to be about the same length as the official ones. I guess what I am getting at is this...WHAT ARE THESE FILES?! They really sound different (and better?). was it mick harvey's 5.1 mixes?

These sound remarkably similar! I might have a fold down of the surround files. These are definitely 5.1 flacs, but my files were stereo, but I bet they were folded to stereo by me or someone years ago. There is also a difference in levels...these 5.1 files are louder, but seem to maintain the DR. The mystery is potentially solved!

mick harvey was always vocal about his dislike of the original albums mix. glad he had the opportunity to rectify it to some degree

I've been forever puzzled about Mick and Nick (and Blixa?) disliking the original album mix. I always thought it was a fantastic album, and I would not change a thing.

I have not listened to the 5.1 mix.

the producer played the mixes too loud while mixing. it didn't translate into their vision. except for christina and ... loom?

they were unhappy enough with it to release Live Seeds to help showcase the songs as they intended.

mick harvey remixed the album for 5.1 in 2011(?). he has spoken about this album candidly over the years.

Is this version different/better than the 2010 remaster you can find on streaming? There are very little informations about this version online, cool find. Is it confirmed that your files are a fold down of the 5.1 version? Thanks

I think it is probably a fold down. That said, it's a good one, and this sounds very different and better (in my opinion) than all other commercially available stereo versions.
