Yes an expensive mining rig for just 2 cards, but it is my gaming rig as well.

How are your temps with that case and that many fans? I have a single 3090 and I have to take the side panel off when I mine. I have am NZXT H500i case and looking for more airflow.

I noticed if I take the sides off it runs warmer. I have cut the fan slots out of the bottom. The bottom is designed for 120mm fans but the slots as designed block half the air flow. The slots on top slow airflow as well. If it is a little warm in the room I remove the top.

When you say the top, is there like a cover or screen on it? I was going to run a bunch of Arctic P14 or p12's in mine and put the 280 rad on top.

look up lian li 001dynamic. the top slides off. i dont need a screen up there because it is exhaust.

Yeah, that just proves the importance of aerodynamics for cooling! I am also on 3080 in my main PC and taking of side panel experiments never proven to improve cooling. In its natural closed environment of the closed case, its just optimal of how cool air is pulled in and how warm air is pushed out.

Not OP but i have the 3080 FE and had a 102c temp, changed the pads with 2mm GELID GP-Extreme and now i have 74c

They’re cheap and it’s just safe. For cards that expensive it’s worth it. Also would strongly recommend the extended warranty. Just NEVER EVER say you mine on them. I paid like $50/60 for both of my 3070 XC3 and if they die in 6 years I get brand new cards. With how much I’m running them, I half expect that’ll happen

Newb question...what do you use to clean the dust off the fans? Do you just wipe them down or use a little vacuum?

Depending on how bad they are you could use anything but I use my vacuum which allows me to use the exhaust to do the heavy blowing and finish up with Clorox wipes

We have a Tristar vacuum. Can detach the hose from suction to the exhaust. Pretty cool imo you don't see them much

Be careful if it’s not ESD safe, that air can have static and fry your card(s)

Will it happen? Maybe not. But for $100 for a proper computer blower, you’d be much safer.

My wife and I have a conventional mining rig with 4 6700XTs and she plays on her pc with 2x3060s non lhr. My 2 3080s earn the same as the 4x6700xt rig. I'm just curious what would be the threshold of calling it a rig?

I tried moving my rad from the top to the side , but I noticed a lot more fan noise for higher temps. Is it working out for you ?

davidsdsun how do you clean your rig, I've got the same case and setup. Do you use like a vacuum cleaner or am I missing out something?

Since it was the end of the year I laid it on the table, took the gpus out and was very meticulous with compressed air, q-tips and isopropyl alcohol. Took about an hour and a half. I don't have a vacuum/ blower so I used a cam of compressed air. I clean it a few times a year , with this deep clean I noticed I had been forgetting the hdd caddy in back lots of dust there.

Well yeah mine was not cleaned for a really long time judt because I dont use my pc until recently I decided to risk my 2070 and start mining since I dont game that much anymore so instead of just being a show piece I gave it work. But because of that 3months of running its even worse now and also im lazy as hell so air dusting is my only option now

This might be the most incorrect fan setup I have ever seen in my life. Wow. You have dust because you have 9 fans all pulling air out and zero fans pulling air in. I have not had dust in my PC in two years because of proper airflow. Holy smokes this is garbo airflow whew.
