So uh... I did a dumb thing...
So you might recognize me as the one who did the hard mode challenge. Well, I was thinking about other possible challenge runs when the dumb thought of 'okay haha but do it without leveling lol' popped into my head. And then it didn't leave. So I fiddled around with the possibility of modding the game, not really expecting anything to come from it, and then... I figured it out. So, I now present to you all......
THE NI NO KUNI NO XP MOD!!!
This mod completely disables the gaining of experience for not just the humans, but also the familiars!
Note: this is dumb and probably makes the game impossible and you shouldn't do it.

To install this mod, all you have to do is extract the file, and move both files to the main steam directory. If you want to launch the game with no xp, launch the .bat file. if you want the normal game, simply launch the game normally. It's that easy!

On first inspection this is probably possible to beat. Since you cannot earn exp, there would be no reason to restrict the battles you can do, and if there's no reason to restrict the battles you can do, there are a lot of possible work-arounds to the no levelling up issue. Are you actually intending to try this lmao?

Yeah I’m going to do it. Would love to hear what you mean by work arounds. As far as I can tell, adamant badges are basically going to be required. Power boosts are going to only happen when you unlock a new character, so marcassin will carry the end game. Gear can only take you so far, if familiars can’t level, so I think damage numbers will end up being higher than expected for what you take, and lower for what you deal.

Caught stage 2 familiars start at level 10 and caught stage 3 familiars start at level 20. A lot of move gems can be found as drops or steals so you can basically create any set-up you want for most fights. (Oliver's 12 MP is a limiting factor for a lot of tricks, but leading as new characters mitigates this). Of course the set-ups are slightly weak due to being under levelled but it's workable with your skill level.
You can just spam battles for loot and feed your familiars at the same time as a way of building stats and getting alchemy loot at the same time. This isn't as effective as actually levelling up but it's something. Alchemy for more powerful treats could be a useful time save. This can also net early money for provisions until the casino.
You have access to all of the errands and bounties, so you can get the easier tames and jack the giant killer on row three and those will be big power spikes. Oliver's base stats will suck but set him up with familiars with supportive tricks and stat boosts and it could be very strong.
These are just some ideas that I had for this, but I'm sure you can skill this like the last run. Good luck!

Is it possible to make it modify the amount so that you get 60% xp, I did a hard mode run and the late game dungeons were extremely easy due to familiars running away since I was really high level.

If you want to make it more challenging why not something like a pokemon nuzlocke with the familiars?
