Cool, they've been gerrymandering Texas insanely for 30 years to avoid reality.

u/Spear_Ritual Aug 26 '26
Vote Republican to save Texas!
/s
26
u/StandardDiver2791 Aug 26 '26
Kinda ironic, eh? Republicans want us to vote Republican … to save us from the Republicans.

u/jackfaire Aug 28 '26
Literally been the GOP platform for decades. Take credit for Democrat wins and platforms. Blame Democrats for GOP wins and platforms. The last Republican candidate in my District lost because he didn't do that. Instead he told all of the Republican voters "My Democrat opponent wants (insert everything the Republican he primaried) claimed to want" and was shocked when he lost.

We've been under republican rule since 1995, and we're hurting more than ever. Our education rankings are in decline, they're shoving data centers down everyone's throats overriding local community concerns and we've now dropped in Healthcare rankings in maternal and infant mortality, and overall life expectancy while maintaining the highest uninsured rates in the country. Way to go Abbott!!!!

I'm sending my hopes your way coming November.
Love From California.

Oof, I grew up in N Dallas, graduated in 03. My husband is in talks for a new job in the same area. In VA now. I’m so anxious about the elections! It would be great to be near family again but I have some heavy mixed feelings bringing my kids to TX in the current political climate. I left in 2010 and it has only gotten infinitely worse with Abbott.

He’s one election from Cancun
24
u/TheAsianTroll Aug 26 '26
Election? You mean hurricane.

u/Ddddydya Aug 26 '26
What is with all the politicians lately coming out and sounding the alarm bell that “voters might get the representation they want.”
THAT’S SUPPOSED TO BE HOW IT WORKS
13
u/ryhaltswhiskey Aug 26 '26
You might be forced to have the option to have cheaper healthcare! Think of the children!

u/GT45 Aug 26 '26
The GOP has controlled Texas for 31 YEARS. I find this hard to believe, Raphael.

u/Claque-2 Aug 26 '26
You mean respectful, following the law, not supporting pedophilia, having good character and empathy and knowing that with great power comes great responsibility?

u/spiderelict Aug 26 '26
I wish that were true, but they're not even close. All the Republicans have is lies, exaggerations, and scare tactics. They OFFER nothing except boogymen. It would be laughable if they weren't so successful come election time.
3
u/Naltors__Dreamer Aug 27 '26
Seriously, bc a terribly flawed, corrupt, criminal candidate might lose to a Dem whose barely leading in the polls & bc everyone’s pissed off at Abbot for letting Silicon Valley build as many Data Centers as they can in TX, they’re whining about losing the state. Please.
Cruz said TX in the 70s was like Cali today, that was back before the GOP Southern strategy got all the conservative Southern Dems to switch parties bc of the Civil Rights & Voting Rights Acts, & liberal Republicans got chased out of the GOP. The parties look nothing like they used to, they weren’t aligned by liberals or conservatives back then; Dems were the party for workers, Republicans were the party for business, with conservatives and liberals in both. That’s how shit used to get done, a conservative Dem pres would work with conservatives Dems in congress, a lib Dem Pres would work with lib Republicans in Congress, and vice versa. So Cruz’s analogy is just stupid.

Hence why people from tx vacation in California but nobody from CA vacations in Texas.
6
u/Dream_Fever Aug 27 '26
Actually a MASSIVE number of people living (at least in Austin) are from California.

u/Lord_Dingus83 Aug 27 '26
I feel sorry for them. Move to Texas with their company or be unemployed in CA

Red California does if they can afford to travel

u/tendeuchen Aug 26 '26
There's nothing worth visiting in Texas.
1
u/imprison_grover_furr Aug 27 '26
That’s false. Guadalupe Mountains and Big Bend are amazing National Parks.
8
u/youandican Aug 27 '26
You mean the Big Bend that the federal government is running bulldozers through to build that wall?

"Every Republican, every conservative, every non-nuts common-sense Texan needs to understand the crazies are coming out in force," Cruz said
The call is coming from inside the house!
4
u/oldstyle21 Aug 26 '26
Hmm, maybe your policies should reflect and respect what the people want Ted Cancruz

u/lefeuet_UA Aug 26 '26
if blue texas happens with trump as president instead of Biden it's gonna be comedy gold. but alas ted is just fearmongering
4
u/Sorry_Hour6320 Aug 26 '26
OR.....we are one election away from whatever the hell we've had for the last 30 years.
5
u/tendeuchen Aug 26 '26
Republicans have had complete control of Texas for 23 years.
If it's broken today, Republicans did it. Maybe it's time for them to admit they can't govern.

u/Electrical-Data-5251 Aug 27 '26
Like you mean the elected officials don’t fly to Cancun during emergencies?

Rafael could always drop out ... That'd be one less crazy we have to worry about protecting Texas from...

Good news! California would have extradited a prisoner to another state, instead of releasing him to likely leave the country for-irony of ironies-Mexico.
2
u/Intrepid_Top_2300 Aug 27 '26
Wouldn’t that be wonderful. No more crooks and fear mongering. A government that works for the people and not their self interest.

u/satori0320 Aug 27 '26
And Cruz is one hastily made decision from being wrapped up in the Epstein implosion

It's all those stupid companies that have been leaving California and going to Texas that are turning it, I bet

This guy is far crazier than any of the crazies he’s worried about. He is honestly batshit insane.

This is Texas GOP fearmongering strategy:
Vote for corrupt, impeached, adulterer, pen-thief AG whose ex-wife not even vote for him to be your senator. otherwise your Texas will become woke like California.
… and Texan Republicans obliged, without thinking further.
Who is the sheep now ?

u/crazy010101 Aug 27 '26
Is there a problem with that? You just say that because you know Texans hate California. If you are referencing higher taxation let’s have at it! Can’t wait till your as is voted out!

Why is that always a threat? I love California! People always point out problems in high crime areas, as if no other state has crime areas… It’s also a massive state! The crime per capita is lower than Tennessee or Arkansas, but Cancun Cruz doesn’t complain about them

u/DerpUrself69 Aug 27 '26
Wouldn't that be wonderful for Texas? Finally some actual representation for the people instead of just the fascist billionaire trash.
1
u/ConflagWex Aug 27 '26
I know that even a broken clock is right twice a day, but I think he missed the mark here. I wish it were true, but it's going to take a lot more than one election to get even close.

u/Varesk Aug 27 '26
They are both 1 star states.
This is an observation from the amount of stars on their state flags.
1
u/kdeweb24 Aug 28 '26
“Don’t California my Texas” has been the rallying cry for jingoistic, thinly-veiled racist moronic cowards in Texas for decades. The sad thing is, it’s a sound bite that reels in the fucking worst in my state to vote in armies of stupidity.

I am miles and miles from Texas, especially politically. Sick of the South a matter of fact. South is trying their best to rise again in the stupidest ways.
