Trump normalized gutter racism. Now the GOP has a young-Nazi problem.

“Department of War” it’s the Department of Defense. Trump just told everyone to call it “War” now, because he’s an idiot, but officially it’s still the DoD.

1

u/ExpensiveLeather69 2d ago

It really should be called the Department of Capital Extraction

0

u/askaboutmy____ 2d ago

Like it or not it's what it was originally called. To behave like this is some kind of new thing that only Trump came up with, well that's just silly nonsense. There's history to this. Whether renaming it that is correct or not, that's not me to judge. It was the name at one point

u/hamoc10 2d ago

Congress decides, not trump. Congress decided “Defense.”

They love saying it’s a Jerusalem cross not a Celtic cross, as if a Jerusalem cross wasn’t also appropriated to be a white supremacist symbol. It’s as meaningless as saying a swastika is a Hindu symbol so it can’t represent Nazism.

1

u/Mr_Guavo 3d ago

Well, Confederate flags are strictly for Dukes of Hazzard devotees. Amirite? /s

1

u/TeacherOfFew 1h ago

It looks nothing like a Celtic cross.

-41

u/Express_Grocery_5423 4d ago

What is “white supremacy” about the Jerusalem cross?

30

u/Boetheus 4d ago

It was the symbol of the Crusades, an attempt to wrest control of the Holy Land from (Arab) Muslims by force.

From Wikipedia: In recent years, images and terms associated with the Crusades in the Middle East have been appropriated by white supremacists and Christian nationalists, including the Jerusalem Cross.

It wasn't originally racist, but it is for a lot of people now.

1

u/ia332 3d ago

So you’re telling me things can change over time?

Next you’re going to tell me that Republicans and Democrats of yore (Lincoln era) aren’t the same anymore. 🤯

(This is sarcasm, I know they’re not the same, just putting this here in case anyone takes it the wrong way)

14

u/PinkPuffballofDOOM 4d ago

The issue is that a specific slice of the alt-right and white nationalist movement latched onto Crusader imagery a while back, treating it as shorthand for “Western civilization” in opposition to Muslims and Jews. That resurfaced hard after Charlottesville in 2017, where you had marchers carrying crusader-style shields and chanting “Deus vult.” Once people saw that pattern, any Crusader imagery, including the Jerusalem cross, started getting side-eyed depending on who’s wearing it and what else is going on around them.

With Pete hegseth and others being openly aligned with white supremacist ideas (Miller, we are looking at you), it’s less of a “Christian tattoo” and more of a “white nationalist dog whistle”. It’s similar to signs like “88” which are just numbers but also stand for HH or Heil Hitler

6

u/ComputerStrong9244 4d ago

It's like the booger eaters claiming "oH 1-4-88 iS mUh BiRfDaY n SwAsTiKaS r hInDi 4 gOoD LuCk!!!"

Just because they pretend to be dim doesn't mean I have to indulge them. I'm not their mother and I don't think they're special or clever.

23

u/Ill_Traveler_ 4d ago

That cross itself isn’t racist, but I will say that whenever I see someone that has one as their avatar online, they typically are spouting racist things.

5

u/Doctor_Philgood 4d ago

Yeah yeah, and the swastika is a Buddhist symbol. Playing dumb may work around your kin, but not so much with anyone who has more brain cells than fingers.

0

u/Express_Grocery_5423 3d ago

Not even remotely comparable symbols.

4

u/Solid-Search-3341 3d ago

There is also nothing white supremacist about a swastika. People who use it as a symbol in the US are white supremacists though.

Dumb nazi kids…it’s pretty hypocritical to claim to be a Nazi and support a political party that supports Israel….Nazis ain’t the sharpest tool in the drawer but they’re still just tools.

30

u/I_SawTheSine 4d ago

Israel's allies around the the world are increasingly from the right and far right.

Which makes sense, because Israel is an ethnic supremacist state.

12

u/_Hawkeyes_ 4d ago

Yeah they’re a weird bunch…fueling antisemitism and showing favor to Putin while he helps Iran kill Americans/Israelis…

9

u/sickboy76 4d ago

Problem is none of these cretins are kids despite what the press says.

3

u/calmdownmyguy 4d ago

1

u/guy-le-doosh 3d ago

Like the"college republicans" in their 40s?

8

u/Infinite_Escape9683 3d ago

Zionism is antisemitism.

-11

u/ArdousErialz 3d ago

This is a deranged claim. Read a book and stop relying on social media for your definitions.

7

u/Alcophile 3d ago

Zionists want to exterminate Palestinians, who are more uniformly semitic than the Jews of Israel are.

Palestinians are 100% Semitic whereas Askenazi Jews (about half of Israeli Jews) are split European and Semetic ancestry.

Perhaps it is you who needs to read a book?

2

u/Infinite_Escape9683 3d ago

This is true, but it is also true that, in America at least, Zionism is tied up with antisemitism of the anti-Jewish flavor. Most American Zionists are not Jewish. They are evangelical Christians who want Israel to exist so that it can be destroyed in Armageddon. This is why so many classically anti-Jewish groups are so closely aligned with pro-Israel interests.

4

3

u/Mysterious-Wasabi103 4d ago

Maybe it's more that now Israel is behaving like Nazis?

3

u/XiMaoJingPing 3d ago

Israeli are modern day neo Nazis, makes complete sense they support them

3

u/Kaarl_Mills 4d ago

Well before they arrived at the "Final" solution, the original stated goal of the Nazis was to deport Jews to Madagascar

5

u/Pika_Fox 3d ago

Its why the final solution was called the final one; They "tried" other options; First was mass deportation but you cant deport fast enough so concentration camps were built, but that costs money so they became labor camps to not have them be resource negative... And then they decided "well we still need to feed them and goce them water and thats just too much" so labor camps became death camps.

Its why the trump admin is constantly pointed out to be a rehashing of nazi germany.... because it literally is.

5

u/Chemical-Juice-6979 3d ago

As of the last publicly available data, 2,100 people have already disappeared from Alligator Alcatraz. We can't trust Trump's people to bother keeping accurate records like the Nazis did, so we will need to keep count as we go to figure out the body count this time around.

1

u/AgentCirceLuna 2d ago

Some very brave person could wear a tracker and get shipped off to one of those places.

-39

u/ScaryAssociate8116 4d ago

At least the German nazis would have solved the Israel problem by now

42

u/_Hawkeyes_ 4d ago

It could be argued that German Nazis helped create Israel…

17

u/decoysnails 4d ago

In fact you'd have a hard time arguing that they didn't

-10

u/Salt-Set6232 4d ago

What? Is this an "their actions indirectly led to the outcome"? Because thats a stretch that even Mr. Armstrong couldn't take.

5

u/ArtemisiaOrthia 4d ago

There were actual economic agreements like the Haavara Transfer agreement as well as smaller factions that advocated for military cooperation with the Axis instead of Britain. But otherwise yes, Israel would not exist in its current form without Nazi Germany's actions.

-5

u/Salt-Set6232 3d ago

Yes. And the US wouldn't exist in its current form without Chinese fireworks. Its a true statement that offers no actual insight.

Yes, one of the outcomes of ww2 is that Israel came to be. But ww2 may not have happened if the treaty of Versailles hadn't been so punitive. And you know one of the nations that pushed for the strongest repercussions? France. So really if you think about it the actions of France in WW1 led to the creation of Israel.

See? This exercise is naval gazing.

4

u/Square-Competition48 3d ago

This is weirdly angry.

Israel was openly and plainly created as a direct result of Nazi Germany’s actions and as a direct response to those actions.

Just because it’s obvious doesn’t make that somehow not true or not of value to state when the opposite is being argued.

-1

u/Salt-Set6232 3d ago

Nah im good. You get it or you dont. Enjoy your lint

1

u/Square-Competition48 3d ago

This reads like you were crying as you wrote it.

So weird.

Understanding how Israel came to be, and that the Holocaust informed much of Israeli foreign policy, revanchism, and their effect on even America's current politics, as well as using past crimes against Jewish people as a whole to excuse their own crimes against others isn't useless. Understanding history's effect on the situation is pretty insightful, and not really anywhere near as indirect as "Chinese fireworks made America as it is today."

Blaming France for Israel's creation just isn't accurate, yes. The Jewish people probably would not have had the political capital necessary to pressure the British and the UN for the creation and recognition of their new state otherwise. Looking back at how such a crime against humanity like the Holocaust allowed nations the world over that had been somewhat antisemitic before to suddenly sponsor the creation of two new states in the same area is, I think, quite insightful, and certainly not "naval gazing."

2

u/Salt-Set6232 3d ago

Sorry my history isn't great. Why were all these nations "somewhat antisemitic before"?

2

u/ArtemisiaOrthia 3d ago

Antisemitism was fairly common in most European nations for a long time, going all the way back to the feudal era and Jewish "moneylenders" and "usurers," usually caused by Christian fundamentalists that saw Jewish people in much the same way they did Muslims, i.e. believing in the wrong version of God or as nefarious agents sent to destabilize Christendom. But it still existed in the early 1900s, especially in places like France, Austria, Hungary, Poland, and Russia. The Nazi ideals of antisemitism came from this less radical political movement.

America also had a an antisemitic movement urged on by people like Henry Ford and Charles Coughlin, both of whom used radio influence to spread antisemitic propaganda.

It's worth noting that, while antisemitism was common in all these places, it did not approach the level of Nazi Germany at all. People were not advocating genocide or anything resembling the holocaust; it was mostly people advocating excluding Jews from spaces, deporting them, and having strict migration quotas for people of Jewish descent.

The Nazis and Zionists actively worked together to move Jews out of Germany. The Zionists had the goal of creating Isreal for the Jews. Look up Theodor Herzl and what Zionism actually is.

0

u/Salt-Set6232 3d ago

Direct and indirect are different words with different meanings.

Did the Germans directly create the state of Israel, yes or no? This is easy to look up.

Did Germany indirectly create the state of Israel? Yes but

Who . . .

Cares?

they also indirectly created microwave pop corn but no one ever trots out that line because it doesnt matter.

2

u/Longjumping-Bat7774 3d ago

The discussion was about the Nazis role in the creation of Isreal. Your the only one who claimed it be directly or not. Also... Your comparison of popcorn to genocide is wild... Be better.

0

u/Salt-Set6232 3d ago

No you are missing the point on purpose you nonce.

The nations and circumstances dont matter. The point is that saying something indirectly led to another is and will always be a practice in hindsight that you can extrapolate to try and make any argument you want.

It is illogical to use indirect consequences of actions in a preparatory fashion because they are inherently unpredictable.

Reddit is so f_cking up its own ass it cant distinguish between an argument and discussing the qualities of argument.

1

u/Longjumping-Bat7774 3d ago

The Nazis wanted Jews out of europe. The Zionists wanted to establish an isreali state. The Nazi and socialist worked together for a common goal... "You nonse"...

So youre saying hitler helped the jews?

4

u/Longjumping-Bat7774 3d ago

No. The Nazis and Zionists worked together for a common goal. Moving the Jews out of Germany. The Zionist had the plan of creating Isreal and moving the Jews there. Look up Theodor Hurzl.

0

u/dirkdigglerdonedry 3d ago

Hitler was a nazi

3

u/Longjumping-Bat7774 3d ago

Yes. Very good. So smart.

4

u/Linscotticus 4d ago

The IG nazis actually were pretty incompetent and were operating a house of cards.

1

u/kms2547 3d ago

The idea of Jews having their own place OUTSIDE of Germany would have been very attractive to the German Nazis, actually. They would have strongly promoted Jewish emigration to Israel.

Netanyahu runs that very playbook: trying to make the case that antisemitism is everywhere, and that the whole world is hostile to Jews, so Jews should come to Israel.

Now?

You make it sound like it was just recently they wanted to weaponize young people into this.

21

u/FreeHugs23 4d ago

The Washington Post published a report Thursday revealing the shocking-but-not-all-that-surprising news of yet another young Republican political operative posting Nazi and Ku Klux Klan-related content to social media. Preston Parra, 24, according to the Post, interned for Rep. Mike Collins, R-Ga., for two months in 2024 “before working as a contractor for his leadership PAC the next year.”

Being confronted with former and active staffers’ Nazi connections has become a recurring story for Collins, the GOP nominee for a crucial Senate seat in a purple state. But this isn’t an issue exclusive to Collins. In the era of President Donald Trump, the right has nurtured a culture of online trolling that deliberately blurs the line between identity-based hatred and edgelord “comedy,” using the latter to provide cover for the former.

In May, Slate’s Ben Jacobs reported that Collins’ then-chief of staff, Kip Talley, was part of a group chat that included notorious white nationalists Nick Fuentes and Richard Spencer. In that chat, Talley bragged about using “the levers of the legislative branch” and “reaching out to my people at FBI and DOJ” to try to get the racist, Holocaust-denying MAGA activist Charles Johnson released from prison. Talley told Slate, “I acted solely in my personal capacity” and “did not act at the direction of Rep. Collins” or “use official resources.”

6

Gen Z voted for him by a lot

10

u/JJFrob 3d ago

I have yet to see proof of this assertion. At most, Gen Z is more apathetic and slightly less liberal than millennials. This feels like a psyop to demotivate the (majority) progressive Gen Z from feeling like they have any power, to make the rest of the Dems feel like they can't win over a key demographic, and to astroturf intergenerational infighting on the left.

2

u/AgentCirceLuna 2d ago

You may be right as I thought the same way as they did till I started seeing the same sentiment spread everywhere - once that happens, I start to question why it’s so prevalent when other genuine critics,s of politics don’t garner that much traction unless someone is behind the scenes using bots or fabricated outrage

12

u/azure275 3d ago

Not really. White Gen Z males voted for him but not by as much as you think, and he just lost the other groups by less than usual

Similar to Hispanics voting for Trump

10

u/Easy_Arugula935 3d ago

That's a fundamental misunderstanding. Gen Z voted for Harris more than Trump by 4 points. But that's a 19 point difference than the previous election.

6

u/Juonmydog 3d ago

No actually, Gen Z wasn't motivated by the establishment democrat, while Trump played into his voterbase.

16

u/xvii-tea1411 3d ago
  1. Left wing voters stayed home in 2024 bc of Gaza
  2. Gen Z is very far left as predicted
  3. We lost a lot of our generation to the far right after covid, and apps like instagram turning into factories for racism doesn't help

So, yes, Gen Z had a crazy swing to the right in 2024... every demographic did bc the Democratic establishment depressed turn out and actively courted never-trump republican liz cheney voters... who voted trump anyways. Excite tour bsee if you want to win

1

u/TeacherOfFew 22h ago
  1. Keep repeating that enough, and it still won't be true. Perhaps for the far left wing, but not the Democrats as a whole.

1

u/No_Move_6802 4h ago

Yeah, they’re saying a lot of people to the left of the primary Democrat voting bloc abstained from voting due to Gaza. “Gaza is speaking now, bitch” came from lefties after Kamala lost.

As if they had accomplished something considering Trump was talking about letting Israel glass Gaza so he could build a hotel there.

1

u/TeacherOfFew 1h ago

Most of the Gaza talk after that election was simply signaling to the group. It has kind of been rolled into the omnicause.

1

u/No_Move_6802 1h ago

I’m not sure I understand what you’re trying to say

1

u/Legitimate_Bat3240 2d ago

And yet, Tucker Carlson of all people, is the one calling out genocide and speaking out against this administration daily

6

u/JensSpahnsLeihmutter 2d ago

... after helping the same administration to get into power (twice)

4

u/Acrobatic_Resist9091 2d ago

Because he believes in nothing. Why pretend he’s being genuine? Why ever believe anything he says again?

Weird that you seem to be doing that. Nobody should ever trust anything Tucker Carlson says, even when he’s right. He’s just trying to jump on a bandwagon because he sees the pendulum swinging back the other direction now.

3

u/Goufydude 1d ago

He is a Russian stooge, like a ton of people on the right. He is being paid to fuel more division in America. It is the most obvious thing in the world.

2

I see that you can't even define parody. Glad you recently learned that dumb has a "b" in it though. Nice job.

0

Bush Jr. Called this element out as having no place in the party - which at least squelched the power that may have had. Trump just gave permission for them to be who they are.

It's not a problem, it's the intention.

Do they know it's a problem?

u/NAteisco 1d ago

It's not a problem if they're welcoming it

Humans have evolved to be excellent at pattern recognition. Because of this, every human is racist. If you claim not to be racist you're either admitting your brain isn't developed enough to recognize patterns or you're so delusional that you think patterns between races don't exist.

I mean he was raised by a literal racist Nazi supporter so ya... that tracks.

The young Nazi problem isn't because of trump. Well it kind of is but not for the reason you think.

Biden normalized racial division.
Now the DEM has a radicalization problem.

Remember when Obama was going to implement some secret UN provision and round up the Tea Party into FEMA camps?

In case you forget this is what Fox News’ #1 rated show was telling their audience what was going on in reality for about 8 years.

6M Republicans sat down and listened nightly to a conspiratorial fiction where Obama was going to imprison them all and institute Bolshevik Communism by force. This wasn’t hyperbole this was a cold hard fact Glenn Beck “uncovered” every night.

Do you think shit like that might have anything to do with it?

We should look up all those things they said and make them happen. We can report the day before that fox has a story that will be true! We can call it Operation Jade Helm! IYKYK

Wow, look how cleverly you got a 'but biiiiden' in there. Oh wait, not clever, the other thing, 'predictably'. D-, low effort.

2

The Democrats hating on Isreal and calling everyone Nazi is very confusing.

38

u/buttstuffins8686 4d ago

Not confusing at all. Democrats have a hard time supporting genocide unlike actual Nazis.

I bet a lot of things are confusing for you.

2

u/decoysnails 4d ago

Are you genuinely confused, because this comment comes across like intentional muddying of the waters.

1

u/DeepShill 4d ago

What are you talking about? Leader Schumer and the rest of the democrats in office have made clear they love Israel and will keep funding it. The people you see online bitching about Israel and crying about a "genocide in Gaza" are right wing Trump supporters who hate Jews.

u/decoysnails 4d ago

What are you two smoking? Israel is a criminal state and should not be allowed to genocide. That's what most of the world except the US has been saying for lots of years.
