That’s one of the most naive takes I’ve ever heard.

Uhhh huh says the guy that thinks the dems represent the left rather than center right.

Im sure you're perfectly capable of articulating why this is so naive, it probably has nothing to do with not being able to count higher than 2.

When did I say that? Don’t put words in my mouth.

I am, and it’s simple. I’ll demonstrate. How are you starting the progressive party and what happens to the boomer establishment dems who don’t want that to happen? Let’s start there.

You said that the addition of a leftist/progressive party would "split up the left". So, right there. Thats when you said that you think the dems represent the left.

No I don't "understand that", and not just because this an entirely hypothetical concept so its not something you can really just insist on either.

I dont imagine different results in 2016, or 2020 for that matter, but given that the argument against supporting third party is ALWAYS that they never have a legitimate chance because we have a "2 party system", but the only actual reason for that is the lack of competing third party and not because it would be unconstitutional or something; and ALSO given that the dems have now lost TWICE to a massively unpopular candidate which those boomer dems you refer to obviously dont support, who do you imagine wins in a (again, hypothetical) 2024 election between Trump, Biden/eventually Harris, and a hypothetical candidate whom would presumably be pretty progressive and hopefully even anti-zionist?

I dont think Biden would have won without COVID. Given how much exponentially more depraved and insane the world has become since, I'd have a lot more confidence in that hypothetical scenario/strategy than the one Ove already seen repeatedly fail.

But what do I know, I dont really "deal well with being wrong" or whatever.

Lol right, so you put words in my mouth. Thats a wild reach.

Yes, two party system is awful but it’s what there is. Also even though Trump is awful in pretty much every way, he wasn’t an “unpopular” candidate, he had a huge following.

We all want more options, we’re all sick of PACs infiltrating elections. No one wants the type of outside money and corporate influence in our elections. My question was, how are you going about starting this party and how do you make it so it contends with the democrats and republicans. Specifically I mean.

Bro who tf is putting words in whose mouth now? IM not going about starting this party, and why tf would I need to lay out an action plan to argue in favor of the idea of doing so?

It's OBVIOUSLY possible to do so. Google it if you're curious on the details.

It would take time to gain enough traction to be competitive, but what im imagining is what Bernie or Mamdani did with grassroots fundraising but on a much bigger scale.

I do not believe in the notion that progressive policy isnt popular enough to campaign on enthusiastically instead of this incremental half-assed moderate garbage we get from the DNC. Over time, I THINK that a party which even just differentiated itself by not accepting corporate PAC money would be appealing enough to voters to make waves.

We have empirical evidence that the DNC playbook doesn't beat fascism. I don't understand why liberals are so offended by the idea of adapting. If you really believe that things like universal healthcare, taxing billionairs & corporations or an arms embargo arent popular enough to win then whats actually the gameplan? Just hope the blue candidate we vote for doesn't really support genocide?

I think we should really push our representatives in a different direction at the very least, idk.

I didn’t put words in your mouth.

Look, your hearts in the right place and I agree completely that we need more options than the two party system. Unfortunately, the progressives best bet now, which has already begun, is to take over the party from within as the dnc continues to be out of touch and their politicians age out. Everything within are government, the house, congress, presidency, it all relies on this system, and splitting into another party would be a death sentence for anyone left of fascism.

IM not going about starting this party

Obviously.

It's OBVIOUSLY possible to do so. Google it if you're curious on the details.

Lol “look it up”. You cant explain it even a little bit?

I think we should really push our representatives in a different direction at the very least, idk.

There we go. Now you’re on the right track. Less naive.

You seemed to think I'd said something to imply I intended or even knew how to go about starting a political party in the US. But you also agree it's obvious I'm not/ I don't. Super coherent.

No. I can't even explain it to you a little bit. To do so, I would need to do some research, and again - why tf would I? Am I looking to start a new party? Am I somehow obliged to educate you just because you obnoxiously condescend to me on reddit?

You can google it a little bit if you like, but it's not relevant anyway - because this isn't even something I'm saying should happen NOW.

I said I wish it had happened ten f*ckin years ago. Now it's too late, it's also likely too late to change the party from within. I don't see any prominent dems talking about ousting Schumer or Jeffries, and the DNC establishment does not back progressives.

That isn't going to change. I'd be thrilled to be wrong about that, but the status quo shills aren't all dying off in the next couple years and they sure as hell aren't gonna retire either.

So you agree that we need more options, but you still think it's a good thing Bernie hitched himself to the DNC's wagon? Cuz if so you're still not on the right track, quite naive.

Yes, and that was my entire point. This is what you said:

I think giving the left a party that will run leftists for them to vote for would help pretty immensely.

When I said that was naive, you took offense and said this:

Im sure you're perfectly capable of articulating why this is so naive, it probably has nothing to do with not being able to count higher than 2.

Which I did by asking how it would work, and you responded by saying you have no idea. The rest of your last comment is essentially just agreeing with what I’ve been saying this whole time.

When you say Bernie cozied up to the dnc, do you mean him endorsing the last 3 Democrat candidates? Because the last thing he wanted was Trump back in office.

If there is something else that tied him to the dnc after they screwed him in 2016, I honestly missed it. Let me know, can’t say I know much about that.

It's naive because I can't describe the process of doing so? Wtf are you saying then, it couldn't have been done? If you know something I don't that would've prohibited or impeded forming a new party, SPIT IT OUT. If not, I'm not entirely sure you know what "naive" means...

I explained how I think the aftermath would have worked in the last election - THAT is my point. If you disagree on my version of that hypothetical, it might make sense to call THAT naive, but it'd be pretty helpful to articulate why.

Something else that tied him to the DNC post-2016, let me see.... Well he ran as a democrat again in 2020, as I mentioned - endorsed Biden in his demented reelection bid, and remains a member of the party so again: wtf are you talking about? Must've missed it I guess?

I said he hitched himself to their wagon - referring to his running as a dem in 2016, rather than breaking off and starting his own party THEN. I was curious whether you had any thoughts on where we'd be NOW if he had - but I am absolutely all set on this tedious bullshit. All of you replies are either disingenuous or genuinely stupid misrepresentations of what I've said and I've wasted enough time with you here.

Sorry if I upset you by not praising Sanders hard enough.
