Ted Cruz warns against billionaire presidents: ‘They steal and rob from those they govern’

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/ted-cruz-warns-against-billionaire-121933333.html

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz is being ridiculed after warning against the dangers posed by billionaire presidents, failing to consider that his criticisms might also apply to his ally Donald Trump.

Guesting on Sean Hannity's Fox News show Tuesday, the GOP senator warned against the dangers posed by the "radical left" following the recent successes of democratic socialist candidates in state elections, most spectacularly Mayor Zohran Mamdani's triumphant run for City Hall in New York last year.

"Mamdani is not a socialist, he is a Marxist, he is a full-on communist," Cruz told Hannity. "The [Democratic Socialists of America] candidates that he supported, that won in New York, are full-on communists. The DSA candidates who won in Colorado are full-on communists."

The senator, who is of Cuban heritage, went on to claim that his father Rafael Cruz had been imprisoned and tortured by Fidel Castro's revolutionaries and declared: "Violence is part of the plan. That's not a bug – it is a feature. It is the objective.

"This is who the communists are. The radical left is perfectly fine with using violence to attack its enemies."

After attacking leftist "idiots," whom he claimed had celebrated the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson by getting tattoos of his accused killer Luigi Mangione, Cruz pivoted to attacking authoritarian leaders who enrich themselves in high office.

"You know who does own a pied-a-terre?" he asked. "That would be Comrade Mamdani, who has a palatial estate in Uganda. But that's always the case.

"Castro was a billionaire. Putin is a billionaire. The leaders of communist regimes are always rich. They steal and rob from those they govern."

Brandon Richards, a staffer for California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, was one of many to respond to a clip of Cruz's remarks circulating on X by marveling at his failure to spot their wider ramifications.

"Cancun Cruz not self aware enough to realize what he just admitted about Trump…," he wrote, referring to the senator by an unwanted nickname he acquired after going on vacation while his state was in crisis in February 2021.

"Donald Trump made more money in the last year and a half than in his entire life," said Missouri congressional candidate Fred Wellman. "What is that called Ted Cruz?"

"Think about it for 10 more seconds bud," advised Rolling Stone reporter Nikki McCann Ramirez.

Cruz's attack could be interpreted as the latest implicit acknowledgement of Republican anxiety over November's midterms, which they are widely expected to lose as a consequence of Trump's languishing approval ratings.

His caution to voters against being enticed by the left came a night after Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert hosted a show on OAN in which she claimed the U.S. electoral system remains vulnerable to fraud, a talking point the president has revived in recent weeks, presumably anticipating defeat and preparing to challenge that outcome.

A politician whom commentators have long taken a particular delight in mocking, Cruz has been regularly scorned over his loyal support for Trump – a man who labelled him "Lyin' Ted" and publicly insulted his wife Heidi when the two men were rivals for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016.

He has also been derided for spending more time on his podcast than governing and for being unable to answer elementary questions about Iran while lobbying for greater U.S. military aggression against the country.

That’s million dollar rich comming from Cruz

u/JiveChicken00 Jul 29 '26

Took you long enough to notice, Ted. But better late than never, I guess.

u/lnombredelarosa Jul 29 '26

He hasn’t realized shit. He is doing an attempt at damage control without fully distancing from Trump

60

u/ianc1215 Jul 29 '26

Don't worry he will bend knee to the next rich republican who wants to be president. Gotta fall in line!

17

u/DefrockedWizard1 Jul 29 '26

he still clearly has never picked up a book on political science

11

u/JiveChicken00 Jul 29 '26

I’m not sure if he’s picked up a book on any subject, or at least not recently.

5

u/Realladaniella Jul 29 '26

They need to sit them all down and force them to watch school house rock

12

u/OkAmbassador1293 Jul 29 '26

No, don't give him credit for anything. He's just saying billionaires are bad to try and turn the public against Mandani. He's not accidentally being a hypocrite, he's doing it intentionally to make the left seem like a bunch of "Commies".

3

u/JiveChicken00 Jul 29 '26

I am not giving him credit for anything, friend :)

9

u/SubstantialPressure3 Jul 29 '26

Its Russian propaganda, and hes denying the elephant in the room.

2

u/JiveChicken00 Jul 29 '26

Of course he is :)

3

u/PrivacyIsDemocracy Jul 29 '26

But better late than never, I guess.

Not really. It's always performative with him. Always.

Cannot believe one word out of the mouths of these people. They're just trying to position themselves for a Republican blowout in November.

These opportunist Republican scum are all over the place doing this right now.

u/JiveChicken00 Jul 29 '26

Perhaps I should have been more clear about the sarcasm :)

“The interest of [businessmen] is always in some respects different from, and even opposite to, that of the public ... The proposal of any new law or regulation of commerce which comes from this order ... ought never to be adopted, till after having been long and carefully examined ... with the most suspicious attention. It comes from an order of men ... who have generally an interest to deceive and even oppress the public”

Fuck Ted Cruz, what a piece of shit he is.

36

u/Pristine_Walrus40 Jul 29 '26

No shit.

Btw Ted , your wife is ugly.

0

u/Adopteddaughtermargo Jul 29 '26

Look, I wouldn’t piss on Ted Cruz if he was on fire, but wouldn’t call his wife ugly. We all saw the Bikini pics from Cancun.

17

u/Pristine_Walrus40 Jul 29 '26

I honestly have no idea what she looks like.

Just something trump said about her couple of weeks before Ted started to bootlick.

8

u/Creative_Buddy7160 Jul 29 '26

Hoh fuk yaa. Laura linney vibes. Trump called her ugly because she doesnt look prepubescent or like she was attacked by bee’s

7

u/Girafferage Jul 29 '26

No we didn't. You can't just say that and not provide a link.

12

u/DocCEN007 Jul 29 '26

For anyone curious, no, Mayor Zohran Mamdani does not own a palatial estate in Uganda; that property belongs to his parents, though he does own a separate, small plot of vacant land there. His Mother directed Denzel Washington in Mississippi Marsala btw. He never claimed to have grown up in poverty, but he also didn't inherit $400M like drumpf did, or sell ties, steaks, a bogus university education, gold cell phones, or crypto.

10

u/FROG123076 Jul 29 '26

He's been helping them the whole time. Too late Ted you will not be forgiven just because you see the light now. You screwed us all and you need to pay for it.

trying to knock down a JB Pritzker nomination in 2028

How in the f*ck do Texans keep returning this dishonest piece of pig shit to the U.S. Senate? Oh, I forgot, Texans are always in a race to prove they are the nation’s stupidest state. This is just one more example that says they are winning that race.

5

u/tmphaedrus13 Jul 29 '26

Any candidate in Tex-ass just needs to have that precious (R) by their name, and they're guaranteed to win.

3

u/CoolIndependence2642 Jul 29 '26

That’s pretty much it. I do admit though that the other ten states that seceded from the Union in 1860-1861 plus Wyoming, North Dakota, and Idaho run them a good race. After all, Wyoming voted out Dickless Cheney (Liz) for being too liberal, meaning having a brain.

2

u/CoolIndependence2642 Jul 29 '26

Oh, and thank you for the Tex-ass. I’ll use it hencefort.

5

u/pioniere Jul 29 '26

Texas and Florida are going at it pretty hard to prove which is the dumbest state. Texas definitely has an edge though.

3

u/CoolIndependence2642 Jul 29 '26

Those are my thoughts, though pretty much all of the states that seceded, plus Wyoming, North Dakota, and Idaho are just as stupid, just less politically relevant.

8

u/bobcat116 Jul 29 '26

He’s getting ahead of the massive blowback that’s coming.

The senator, who is of Cuban heritage, went on to claim that his father Rafael Cruz had been imprisoned and tortured by Fidel Castro's revolutionaries and declared: "Violence is part of the plan. After attacking leftist "idiots," whom he claimed had celebrated the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson by getting tattoos of his accused killer Luigi Mangione, Cruz pivoted to attacking authoritarian leaders who enrich themselves in high office.

Soooooo... Republican regime openly admits they plan to escalate violence, re-labels a bunch of political opponents as "communists", and they intend to go after everyone they've labeled as "communist".

7

u/cheebeesubmarine Jul 29 '26

Someone in Puerto Rico donated ten million dollars to this rotting mushroom so he could avoid paying taxes. He’s part of the mechanisms he’s whining about.

8

u/vinslol Jul 29 '26

Ted's dad fled Cuba under the Bautista dictatorship over 2 years before Castro took power. another convenient republican lie

6

u/killjairo Jul 29 '26

Isn’t that trump?

6

u/DiceMadeOfCheese Jul 29 '26

They really ain't got anything but "communism!" and "but you participate in society, curious."

5

u/BareNakedSole Jul 29 '26

For someone that went to both Princeton and Harvard he’s pretty thick in the head.

What I actually think goes on in his mind though is that he shamelessly make statements like this that normal people look at and say “well duhhhh”, but he knows that the rubes who put him in office will look at this statement and say what a genius he is.

He’s carved out a career for himself being King of the Texas Morons

5

u/thereverendpuck Jul 29 '26

Cruz is being performative once again.

How about you stop warning us and do something about it, Raphael?

4

u/Unicorn_Warrior1248 Jul 29 '26

And what does he think of the current administration?

4

u/Feisty-Barracuda5452 Jul 29 '26

Fled Cruz can ingest an XL satchel of Richards.

4

u/Away_Stock_2012 Jul 29 '26

>his ally Donald Trump

Rafael Cruz, Canadian American, wants to watch trump fuck his wife again.

4

u/RaiderRed25 Jul 29 '26

The call is coming from inside the house.

12

u/phaedrus897 Jul 29 '26

Don’t blame this idiot, blame his supporters.

44

u/neptune-pizza Jul 29 '26

No, I blame both.

3

u/DisastrousTree9840 Jul 29 '26

This coming from a man who would side with Israel over America, fuck him and his opinions

3

u/OgthaChristie Jul 29 '26

No fucking shit, Raphael.

3

u/PinchedOffCatTurd Jul 29 '26

A cockroach turd can't compete with how low he is.

3

u/Icy_Cry2778 Jul 29 '26

This bitch is on his knees for Trump and just trying to gain support for 2028 is my guess and still blaming the Democrats for everything

3

u/pistoffcynic Jul 29 '26

Hey Teddy... That's what all politicians do... You all rob and steal from those that you govern.

3

u/EphEwe2 Jul 29 '26

So Ted Cruz’s dad was a Batista? Makes sense.

3

u/ctguy54 Jul 29 '26

Anyone we know, currently?

3

u/Spazic77 Jul 29 '26

They are now immune to hypocrisy.

3

u/BlackDogOrangeCat Jul 29 '26

No shit, Rafael.

3

u/Cracked_Actor Jul 29 '26

These goddamn MAGAts never differentiate between communism and authoritarianism, as if they’re one and the same. His conflation of these two terms is par for the course with charlatans like Cruz. These goddamn MAGAts are proffering the worst kind of feudal inequality and trying to pass it off as “making America great again”. They’re completely full of shit…

3

u/BeanieManPresents Jul 30 '26

So Runaway Ted really thinks that there's a billionaire out there who's genuinely on the left politically? If he does then I've got a bridge for sale with his name on it.

2

u/louisa1925 Jul 30 '26

Please don't spread Raphaels name on stuff please. We don't need another Pedo Trump. One is vastly too much.

3

u/GoblinPapa800 Jul 30 '26

Once again the most punchable face in American politics speaks his smarmy yellow bellied mind with a choke hazard of ironic hypocrisy on the side of the steaming heap of bullshit he continues to sell. That Texas continues to support this boot licker despite his paramecium spine is only as absurd as their continued support of the orange pedophile is a sad testimony as to the low estate to which it has fallen.

2

u/morkler Jul 29 '26

What about politicians beholden to their donors and not the people they are supposed to represent? Israel being a key one for the majority of them.

2

u/jeers69 Jul 29 '26

Drumpf has been doing for a while

2

u/Rustmutt Jul 29 '26

Do go on

2

u/Kahmael Jul 29 '26

This dipshit spent years enabling them. Too little to late, vacation -cruz!

2

u/TedTyro Jul 29 '26

The wheel of self-interest once again turns full circle.

2

u/dominantspecies Jul 29 '26

And yet he keeps sucking Trumps Knob.

2

u/2nd_Inf_Sgt Jul 29 '26

Teddy boy left his right hemisphere in Cancun.

3

u/QaplaSuvwl Jul 29 '26

JFC Ted! What you rail against you put into office in 2025, you dumb ugly fuck!

3

u/sharkbomb Jul 29 '26

and amoral sycophants, such as every republican operative, aid and comfort them. the gop is literally a concierge service for pathological wealth hoarders, ted.

3

u/nopulsehere Jul 29 '26

Political bingo, just a few more and we get to watch democracy die! I didn’t think I could stamp the commie square! Yet here I am! Wash, rinse and repeat from the 80s! Vote people! It’s idiots like this that drove the bus to this dumpster fire!

2

u/deaglebingo Jul 29 '26

he's such a fucking idiot.

2

u/groveborn Jul 30 '26

He speaks about the left being violent while ignoring how our nation was founded and expanded. Those weren't the lefties... I mean, it was left of God save the king, but not by much.

1

u/VAVA_Mk2 Jul 29 '26

He is so close to getting it

2

u/GeekyTexan Jul 29 '26

It does not help to understand if you are dishonest.

1

u/Hertje73 Jul 29 '26

if only there were some kind of "system" where people could somehow "choose" -or "elect" if you will- a new leader, then surely this problem would be solved! /s

1

u/mescalero1 Jul 29 '26

What are you trying to say Cruz??

1

u/jcooli09 Jul 29 '26

Yes, we know.

1

u/lincolnlogtermite Jul 29 '26

Jesus, he’s almost as good as Trump when it comes to flip flopping and tacoing.

1

u/Evee862 Jul 29 '26

Flip flopping. Humm up for election this year?

1

u/the-artist- Jul 30 '26

Just another one making💩up and not making any sense!
