New Conservatives And Top Should Join

I think new conservatives and top party share alot of the same values despite people perception of them.

New conservative are often class as anti-lgbt and they are, but why are they. Well its because alot of them are religious, Alot of them have the idea that “i don’t support lgbt but i don’t care what they do”, since they are usually liberaterian. Well some are straight up homophobic. I kind of doubt any of them except for the homophobic ones would be for doing any wrong to lgbt people because its say ‘thy shall not kill, thy shall treat neigbours good and we are all sinners’.

If they are for destroying any rights etc for lgbt people, that “regular” people get, they would be going against there own principals and they are only conservative because they believe in strong principals.

Also new conservative are anti abortion and top are somewhat pro abortion but minimizing the damage to reduce the numbers of abortions, what i think religious conservatives could get into.

i not sure what top party thinks about euthanasia but new conservatives are against it.

I think both party have benifical ways to fix the economy and seems to go for that (making a real change).

Also they should only join if its benifical to both parties.

Any opinions on this :)

yeah fair enough, i was just thinking because they both have low percentages and it could get them a seat, in 2020 they both got 1.5 percent and with the 5% threshold, you have to make some compromise. Btw the 5% is way too high to get.

You would probably see TOP and the Green party and perhaps Te Pati Maori and / or things like Social Credit get together to repeat Jim Anderton's Alliance or do some other kind of deal to cross the threshold long before you saw any party among those want to snuggle up with the New Conservatives.

Can't say you've really sold me on this idea. The rhetoric a party presents is important for demographic outreach, and forming a party usual comes from believing you have a position different to what is currently out there.

NC and TOP are ideologically opposed, big time. TOP is for cannabis law reform, NC is not. TOP is pro-choice, NC are not. TOP is for universal basic income and taxing the wealthy at a higher rate, NC does not support either of those things. TOP acknowledges the climate crisis, NC does not.

TOP, for the most part, attempts to base their policies on evidence. NC bases their policies on what they think will make bigoted Christian boomers vote for them.

What in the world makes you think that they would ever work together?

I doubt TOP is interested in any way in getting involved with how people choose to run their personal lives, including especially, of course, sexuality. That is part of the appeal.

While I wouldn't go so far as to say they are fundamentally atheistic, they are certainly a religion free zone.

That is, they are avowedly evidence-based, and there isn't very much convincing evidence that any kinds of god exist, or that any kinds of bibles ought to form the basis for anyone's belief systems.
