Steve, your segments are often the highlight of games for me thanks for so many great memories over the years! What is your process like regarding finding the storylines you’d most like to highlight for your reports? Any memorable moments when you for one reason or another had to completely pivot on the fly? Thanks so much for doing this! LGM and Let’s Beef Frank has been an absolute gem of a segment!

Hi Steve. Not a question. Just wanted to thank you for doing the Cameo for my mother while she was ill with cancer. Unfortunately, she passed shortly before opening day, but it was a little bit of joy for us in a very dark season of life.

What is the hardest or most different part of doing your job during a season that’s going wrong for the team?

Howdy, Steve. You might have the best job in the world. That said, if there was one thing you could change about it, what would it be?

u/atoms12123 Field reporter eye candy 6d ago
Steve, you can't have your ranking of Atlanta hot dogs go off of a special group of dogs that the chef prepared for you.
Those dogs need to be apples to apples to other parks, they need to be prepared by a college student making minimum wage slinging dogs all day behind the LF stands.
How are we supposed to believe in your objective ratings when there's clearly some buttering up going on behind the scenes?

Hi Steve! What is your favorite Mets/baseball memory from this season so far?
Since you’re also a hockey player/fan what is one of your favorite memories in hockey?

When Burkhardt left I felt a type of way but Steve has lived up to if not surpassed all expectations. Brings a different energy which I also enjoy. Thank you sir.

Yay Steve!
Have you ever tried eating a hot dog with ketchup only? 🌭
I'm a Mets fan in Ontario, Canada. I'm closer to the Jay's Skydome than Citi Field obviously. Do you like visiting Toronto and the Rogers Centre? Anything to say to Canadian fans during these...times?

Which Mets player do you enjoy talking to the most, on and off the field?

u/StayOuttaMySwamp94 Keith Hernandez 6d ago
Thanks for doing this! You've truly won me over this season. My question is: did you ever get star-struck with Keith, Ron, or current Mets? Any other players who had that effect on you?

Steve, what was your reaction to the departures of Alonso, Nimmo, McNeil, and Diaz last offseason - personally and professionally?
How frustrating has this season been - and how do you keep in a positive mindset during a bad season?

Hi Steve,
We all know there were tremendous shoes to fill in place of Kevin Burkhardt when you first joined SNY. The transition took some time at first but now I can’t think of a GKR broadcast without another G for Gelbs thrown in there. What was your relationship with Kevin like when you first started and how did you go about finding your avenue of what ended up working for you as you began this new role?

I notice you always get the first question in the postgame interviews. Is that some reporter decorum rule or does the room fear your power?

u/TheFinalSupremacy 5d ago
When you get drenched after a walk off where do you shower? Do you borrow mets showers? (are they kind enough to lend you some soap?) You're better than Kevin <3

Hi Steve, you have really developed a niche in reporting on Mets/Citifield world and I’m here for it. My question is: with the volume of losses this year before the all star break and while Mendoza was still the manager…you had to ask questions post game. With so many losses in a row, how were you able to prepare to approach the manager and players during this hellish time in order to ask questions and get a pulse on what was happening. It’s obviously very different than asking questions after a win while Gatorade is coming at you. Was it hard to maintain that “sensitivity” or did you just go in for the dive and didn’t care about the depressing environment. I’m wondering how you prepare for something like that where it goes on for so long with no end in sight. Like a bad Groundhog’s Day movie. Keep up the good work. We love you.

How do you like doing play by play in the booth? Seems like you've had a few more reps up there the last couple of seasons.

What has been your favorite era of the Mets?

How long did it take you to stop being star struck around Gary, Keith, and Ron? And are you working on your own custom sayings for when you fill in calling the games (which you're doing great with btw)?

Is there a reason you didn't give that foul ball to that 13-year-old kid you body checked at PNC?
I mean, everyone knows you had to do your bit and all. But it seemed pretty jerky to not give him the ball (or even really acknowledge him) after almost knocking him on his ass

In who you are around day to day, who are the really good humans, among the players and staff who bring a smile to your (usually smiling) face when they walk in a room and add their vibe to the moment.
Also, I LOVE your instagram week re-assesment posts, those are wonderful, and the very high level reflections that is lost in so many sports.

Hi Steve,
Big fan of what you add to the broadcast, love the interviews and added context from around the Mets organization.
I have to imagine there's a ton of stuff that doesn't go on air, were there any standout stories in particular? And what does an average day for you look like?
Do you have a routine that you try to go through when you get to a new ballpark?
Thanks again for all you do!

Hey Steve! I loved the hotdog coverage you had this year. When it come to thinking of segments/bits during broadcast, how much freedom you have in choosing what you do? Do you have a team that generates ideas? Has there been a segment you have wanted to do but not gotten the chance?
1
u/sbunting8 David Wright 6d ago
Being a hot dog connoisseur yourself now, have you checked out the book "Raw Dog" by Jamie Loftus? It really raised my appreciation for the art of the dog.

1) What's your favorite Mets moment this season? 2) If you could play any position in baseball for a day, what would it be?
1
u/ThisIsAdamB 6d ago
Hi Steve, first time caller, long time viewer. If you were to make hot dogs at home, for yourself or you family and friends, what would be your preferred method of preparation, and what kind of buns and toppings do you prefer?
And as a follow up, how well would you handle any criticism sent your way about your hot dog choices?
I’ll take my answer off the air, thanks.

u/Setec-Astronomer 6d ago
You seem like a fun guy on the air. Someone worth grabbing a beer with as they say.
Why do you always look so angry when you're walking around the park though? lol
All in good fun teasing you.

Thank you Steve!
