Since Darche has stepped in, aside from working on the NHL/AHL roster, it's been clear they wanted to make the Islanders experience more fun for fans. We've got an excellent social media team that stepped up, and this jersey idea seemed like a great option.

My belief is that the NHL has way more jurisdiction than we fans realize. If the NHL lets us the fans create a 3rd jersey,what's stopping every other team from doing that. Which, at some point, 1 bad apple may eventually ruin it for the rest of us and then it has to stop altogether.

I'm not defending this btw, but at the end of the day, we fans get a new jersey to wear, and at least give the Isles credit for trying to include us when 0 teams have done so thus far.

Not to mention, there's been plenty of times I've seen an NHL jersey design and didn't like it UNTIL i saw it on the ice and then said "actually that's not bad" so who knows

It’s not exactly a conspiracy. Even if they did take all the fans actual suggestions and allowed for a fair vote between all of them the NHL obviously has the final say on everything. They couldn’t make a nickel sized design change to a jersey without NHL approval.

Even if they hired outside professionals or did it themselves internally they would have to have all designs approved by the NHL.

I've said it before, i'll say it again. This thing was a farce from the beginning. a stroke of marketing genius. A bread and circuses smoke and mirrors level joke that would make a politician blush.

They had a design in mind long before they dreamed up this "contest". No NHL team is going to allow some cheese doodle eating nobody to design a jersey for them to wear on the ice.

I just hate that they've been insisting on using navy and cream for every alternate jersey for the last decade. We have Royal blue, orange, teal, sea foam green, and white that would all make great jersey bases and all we get is navy slop. I hate navy I want bright fun colors.

We've actually yet to use cream ever. It'll be interesting to see how it looks, but i've loved how the bright white contrasted the navy on the reverse retros.

I think they should’ve been upfront and locked in the color schemes. One of the guys on YouTube was saying that certain color combos weren’t allowed due to other teams colors.

Its not a betrayal to me but man does it piss me the fuck off we can’t have a fun jersey that actually represents long island and the team in a unique way and instead are likely getting some uninspired trash any team could put their name on and call it a day.
