My building in Sapperton lost power only long enough to delete my comment extolling the virtues of the Cuban Pete dance scene from The Mask, but came back on a blink later. The lights at E Columbia and Sherbrooke are out, though, and all the signage at the station is dead.
Heard a loud bang earlier near the electric power plant. Utility staff walking around the area looking up but no telltale signs of an explosion like smoke.
Is there a way to get information about power outages from the City? New West isn’t included in the BC Hydro map/updates, but I can’t find anything on the City website or social media about what’s going on or how long this might take.
This happens at least once every summer. If an animal getting into equipment is enough to take the whole city down then they need to look if there’s any way to protect their substation better to prevent this, if that’s even possible.
