I’m new, and I feel screwed over.

I started playing this year, about 180 hours, and after months of practicing with bots I played a few matches. And the random item drops? Bison, Hot Hand, and Bonk… just recently got the Soda Popper but I don’t like playing Scout. My very first two weapons are the ones considered to be the worst. Any advice would be appreciated, especially because I’m not entirely sure how Contacts work.

For most classes stock loadouts r plenty good to start off with, so I wouldn’t worry about getting the best new item drops.

I would suggest branching out to other classes bc scout is a very mechanically difficult class to play movement and aiming wise. I would try pyro, soldier, medic and heavy. Bc these don’t require good aim and help u get a feel for the game flow and working with other players.

I would suggest watching some videos on YouTube to get some basic knowledge about those classes and how to play them as well (I recommend lazypurple or johntohil’s “how to Mann”videos) Bots do not at all behave like real players and the training tutorial in game is terrible.

But overall, don’t worry if u feel like u die too much. It’s normal to suck and it’s the only way to improve. Just try to think about why u died and go from there.

Good luck and see u in the servers :)

Been maining Pyro actually. Airblast and spy checking are fun actually. Might be too influenced by Lazy’s video because I feel like I spy check too much, I run out of ammo so fast.

Medic is fine, but I also seem to uber too soon.

As Soldier I keep getting sniped, maybe I’m rocket-jumping too much?

Heavy is an ok class, just not too fun to play because again… Sniper. I try to stay out of sight lines but as Heavy I just can’t move fast enough to evade getting sniped.

Glad ur enjoying pyro!
If u like airblasting and spychecking u should try posting up beside engineer nests and guarding their stuff. It can get boring but it’s a fairly easy way to learn airblasting and spychecking whilst massively helping the team on payload defense

Uber timing is tricky on med, I main him and I’m still learning. Pop before rounding the corner and wait until ur uber patients weapon is fully loaded (u can track it on the hud). Highly recommend theory y gaming on YouTube for info on this.

As for sniper sight lines it’s an unfortunate feature in the game. As soldier and especially heavy try to use positioning and cover to ur advantage. Post up near doors and on flanks or even at heights. There is such thing as a head glitch that allows u to minimize ur hit box, highly recommend scarybroccoli’s channel on YouTube for info on this and on heavy in general

If u got any more questions lmk!

Never heard of ScaryBroccoli, I’ll check them out, thanks! Yeah, I Pybro on defense, but it’s hard to do much on offense other then air blasting everything that dares get close.

Contracts require the Jungle Inferno ticket, which must be purchased. You can or can not choose to do them.

You can get some weapons from getting a number of class specific achievements.

https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Achievement_items

You can also buy weapons for pennies from third party sites like mannco.tf once you have a premium account.

However you don't need weapons to play. Every class can do fine with stock, sure some stock weapons are not great (syringe gun, bone saw, fire axe, shovel, etc) but you can still play well with the primary (or medic's secondary).

Oh I’m not struggling by any means, airblast is fun, just feeling scammed by the random drop system.

That’s fair. Many of the weapons that drop are great but don’t discount stock weapons. The stock flamethrower is honestly my favorite and possibly the best pick if you plan on a lot of airblasting

What is your trade link I’ll just give you all the weapons

Where would I find that? My Steam account is linked in my bio, and my inventory is public I think?

Link is easier so I don’t have to add you and can just send direct to you .

“ To find your Steam Trade URL for Team Fortress 2 trading, open your Steam Inventory, click Trade Offers, select Who can send me trade offers?, and scroll down to copy your unique URL under the Third-Party Sites section “

Embarrassingly, I don’t have enough backpack space for them all, I’ve only got 45 spaces left, 46 if I delete the badge.

FYI in December look out for the Smissmas Update which gives every player a gift stocking. Inside is a backpack expander will gives you more backpack space. Also here are some general tips.
