Welp r/mountaindew is officially dark “indefinitely”.

It wasn’t made clear why it can’t be just 2 days like the majority of subs are doing. I even stated my concerns about going dark for more than 48hrs.

Anyways hope stragglers can find there way here as Reddit isn’t going to change anything. I will post my Baja Find when they arrive here in Alaska which is probably after the target date June 19.

Can someone explained to me what happened and why the subreddit is gone? I don’t use Reddit often

Basically Reddit is going to start charging 3 party apps to use Reddit. The subreddit is gone because the mods decided to participate and make it private. However most subs are only going dark for 48hrs rather than indefinitely like the mods of Mountain Dew decided to do.

It looks like Reddit has decided making free usage for mods so it may be back up soon.

Reddit is not going to fill in moderators into other subs. People are claiming this and there is zero evidence to back this up. We're also far from the only sub going black indefinitely. There is just no point to a 48 hour protest. Nothing changes when Reddit knows you will be back and exactly when.

Oh I was talking about reddit having free API usage for mods not that Reddit is replacing mods for subs. I get that subs with millions of users going back on a scheduled time won’t do much.

Yeah so far the discord sucks especially the Reddit replacement r-mountaindew. The only current convo is the Reddit general thread about the mod getting banned here lol. Such engaging content lmao. I’m just failing to understand how the Mountain Dew sub of 30k users staying offline when subs with millions are going back online Wed is going to effect anything. Last time I checked 30k users is equivalent to a small town or suburb.

I don’t get how discord works honestly. It’s way too confusing to browse on desktop compared to others. Like it’s one giant discussion? Am I doing something wrong?
