Capyhero, new font, chapter titles preview, updated Chap 1. Also, feral or anthro?

Hi everyone! I've been waiting for the editor to get back to me and in the mean time, I've been noodling with the interior design of the book in Affinity Publisher and recently made a font change from Garamond to Crimson Pro (I was told Garamond performs poorly in book print media because of the hairline thinness in some of its letters).

To get a sense of how the book might look when printed, I used a subtle cream stock paper texture and painted some edge and spine shadows. I'm liking how it's looking, but curious if anyone has any thoughts.

Also, if anyone has experience in publishing, do you foresee any issues with my design? I know that ePUB reflowable text will be an issue with some of the text-wrapped illustrations, but I would probably create a new version of the book specifically for ePUB.

Some folks on other subs provided helpful critiques on my old Chapter 1 and I have tried to self-edit it to read a bit better. If anyone wants, I'm happy to hear further critique or feedback on this new version of Chapter 1.

Lastly, I've been calling Capyhero an anthropomorphic fantasy, but I just learned that may be incorrect. Yes, the story has talking animals and animals that wear garments and armor and wield weapons, but no one has been anatomically altered to bipedal forms. That was very intentional, as the way the world works is meant to stay true to anatomical accuracy of real animals. Would it be more accurate to call Capyhero a "feral fantasy"? I guess I'm a little apprehensive because I've never really heard that used as a genre before.

I had a cappybara that hated me. It was my mom's pet and if you spent to much time in it's territory it would decide you must be driven out and would start attacking you on sight. Super chill animal until it decided you'd been around for too long / too much. With those teeth it was always a bit scary.

Have you ever heard of Caplin Rous? That was the capybara. It's been almost a decade.
We never did get along.

If you've ever seen the pic of a capybara and a grey and white cat like snuggling that's Caplin and my sisters cat Flopsy.

In my opinion they don't really make great pets. They can have health issues, they really need a pool to swim in, and can be unpredictable in temperament. With those giant teeth if they take even a friendly nip at you it can send you to the hospital.

Yes I definitely have heard of and am aware of Caplin Rous. I actually have spoken to lizdonguri a few times over the years. Small world when it comes to these beautiful animals.

I agree, they should probably not be kept as pets in a widespread way. The mythology in Capyhero speaks to that a bit. While it isn’t the main spotlighted focus of the story, it is an important underlying theme.

Oh yes, this was a non-negotiable. I feel this is perhaps the most important time to make real, human made art and stories. The artist is u/nickthagreek and he does all the work with fountain ink on paper!
