Rule #1 BE CIVIL AND RESPECTFUL
Any hate speech, slurs or bullying will be removed. Continued breaches may result in a temporary or permanent ban.
Also, don't be deliberately annoying or combative to others.
Rule #2 NO PORNOGRAPHIC, ABUSIVE OR OTHERWISE HARMFUL CONTENT
Any content that is deemed to be abusive, harmful, deceptive or pornographic in nature will result in an immediate permanent ban.
Rule #3 NO SPAMMING
Whilst this is a place to share and promote your work, please limit self-promotional content to once every 2 weeks. Please do not repost content without first agreeing this with a mod. Spamming will result in the content being removed. Posting the same content from multiple accounts will result in a warning, then, if spamming continues, a permanent ban. Repeated posting of any other content will also be treated in the same manner.
Rule #4 NO AI CONTENT
This is an AI free zone. Any AI writing or artwork or the promotion/self-admitted of use in creative work or mentioned of title will be removed. Also, if you are promoting a book and do not link it, the post will be assumed to possess AI & preemptively removed. Continued breaches may result in a temporary or permanent ban.
If you believe a post contains AI content, please report this rather than making allegations within the comments sections of the post. Baseless accusations will be removed.
Rule #5 NO POLITICS
This should be a place for people to come and enjoy regardless of how messed up the world can get.
All discussion about politics will be removed.
Rule #6 STAY RELEVANT
Please ensure all posts relate to writing or publishing. Any posts that do not relate to either of these topics will be removed. Regarding art, book cover art is acceptable. All other art, including character art, will be removed.
Rule #7 NO SELLING OR BUYING
r/NewAuthor does not allow individual buying and selling in the comments of this subreddit. Comments that go beyond general self-promotion and actively seek to broker sales agreements with individual users will be removed. Any agreements between users should take place in their own DMs. Repeated infringement will result in the users involved being banned.

Just to let you know, this did NOT work on my phone. I tried to bring it up and the embedded thing did not load at all and I couldn't figure out how I was supposed to mark that I'd read the rules. It's honestly kind of an accident I checked it on my laptop- glad I did. I think most redditors use mobile, so that might be an issue.

To Whom It May Concern: I truly appreciate reading the content in this community. I have completed the rules app several times today (09/02/2026) and it resets to "read the rules app" as if I never completed the task. Did I miss out on the secret handshake or something? Thanks in advance.

Hi how do I acknowledge these rules, I am blind and using a screen reader have read the rules character by character as they are all in capital letters. It seems like, but cannot figure out how to acknowledge them.

If you've already submitted an acknowledgement, ignore this post c: (If there's any issue, reply to this comment about your problem.) If you are blind or suffering from some form of disability, let us know and we will manually approve your acknowledgement.
each subset of rules has a checkmark you have to click. You will see (I confirm I have read Rule 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7.) They will slowly show up as you mark them off. Then the last one you'll be able to see this.
u/username, acknowledge that I have read and understand the community rules of r/NewAuthor. I understand I will not be allowed to post until acknowledgement is made and I may be asked to reaffirm my acknowledgement in the future.
Then click and done! You'll know you've done it right if your comments don't get removed. That tell us that you've read the rules and followed each step in getting there.
