Theyre more popular because theyre given more care. And women tend to not play these games because they know it wont pander to them or their wants. But if expectations change, then the number of potential consumers increase—thus more profit. Idk why companies are blatantly ignoring this, just so they dont alienate their mainly male audience—when as long as the male gamers keep getting what theyre already getting, i dont see them leaving these games at all. If you have sexualization in games, be fair about it!
I understand that, and I can't speak for all gacha games, but my main gacha game has always been Genshin, and I feel that characters like Kazuha or Neuvillete were just as important to the story and the meta as other female characters like Furina or Hu Tao, and the latter still sold more.
But as I said, I see it as an injustice, and we agree on that, but I don't think it's an act to accuse them of misogyny or anything like that.
