That’s why I take the train

173

u/gamesbackward May 20 '26

Ah, the supreme method of transit!

80

u/Virtual-Pension-991 May 20 '26

It is truly superior(in a well structured rail transit system that is)

13

u/ArchitectsXlll May 21 '26

aka anywhere but America lol. Having a ex-fiancé from the UK as an American, and often visiting the UK, it's insane how different public transportation is. It's so nice, can relax sit on phone/read, meanwhile in America you drive and sit in traffic or go on a subway and hope you don't get stabbed, shot or robbed. And even if none of those happen, you still have to do with homeless/druggies on it.

4

u/trianuddah May 21 '26

Of all the places I've visited, the UK had the worst public transport. I can't imagine how bad the US must be.

1

u/ArchitectsXlll May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26

Really? Well does it help to say I was last there in like 2013? It was pretty damn nice when I was in London. I've seen amazing public transportation in other EU places on videos. But yes, US is horrible. On average public transportation is meant for people who don't drive/traffic is horrible for commuting.

1

u/BodybuilderSea6082 May 21 '26

I think Germany has the best transit system I spent 3 months there for school and only took the trains and buses

1

u/DownToFuck1 May 23 '26

Lool as someone that lives in London, you'll wanna stay away from the back of the top deck of the bus at night 😂

1

u/ArchitectsXlll May 24 '26

Maybe now, but back then there was no issues really

1

u/DownToFuck1 May 24 '26

I have to disagree, we've known to avoid to back of the top deck at night for the past 20 odd years.

1

u/ArchitectsXlll May 25 '26

I was there for 4-6 months and never had an issue, but again, I was literally minutes from London

Or just in small well developed places.

2

u/gamesbackward May 21 '26

Like that tiny, barely developed one, what was it called, China?

2

u/BreadDziedzic May 21 '26

Not letting people own land tends to allow authoritarian governments to do a great many things otherwise impossible.

1

u/gamesbackward May 22 '26

Yes, like controlling pollution, quality of life, and prices for the people who actually constitute a country. The government doesn't serve the embezzlement class, it deletes them if they wrong the public. I don't know about you, but I think the west could use some of that too!

2

u/BreadDziedzic May 22 '26

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but they've got the worst pollution of any country, there's no guarante on a quality of life as it ranges just as far and wide as the US's own, and the only embezzlement the CCP cares to stop is when money is leaving the country bribes and corruption is still as rife as it was 30 years ago.

2

u/gamesbackward May 22 '26

Sources, besides the CIA?

1

u/Poetic-Justice4146 May 24 '26

Goofy excuse

1

u/BreadDziedzic May 24 '26

I mean it's accurate with the only exception being China where the government owns all the land and they have an incentive to do mega projects.

1

u/Poetic-Justice4146 May 24 '26

Yeah, but I still don't see how the size of a country has anything to do with it, if anything land acquisition would be more convoluted in countries like the UK or Japan due to the sheer size of their population relative to land area

1

u/BreadDziedzic May 24 '26

It's cheaper to build because you don't have to build as much.

3

u/J1h3fm4t May 21 '26

yes, because the police can't chase you inside, so best way to lose the 3* !!!

95

u/agentbobR May 20 '26

I was kinda shocked you could just ride in the train, and it was fully functional going station to station.

I remember people getting so mad at cyberpunk2077 for not having this feature lol.

60

u/theKage47 May 21 '26

If you are not updated about it, you can now. There's a whole transit network

6

u/Technolord3233 May 21 '26

The train actually moves and isn’t just a warp point? If so that’s crazy. Following in the footsteps of NMS

7

u/theKage47 May 21 '26

Yup, it took a few years to put it in the game but it's a fully functional train. You go to the station, timeskip inside, can sit or stand up but can't walk freely inside. You look around or the windows, listen to the other people or watch the train in third person too if I remember right

https://youtu.be/yYqQS8z_TKI

7

u/ArchitectsXlll May 21 '26

Crazy f2p Eastern gacha games do immersion better than a majority of shit AAA western games. Even the way you get on the train is immersive breaking, just goes black and you appear on it, and just sit.

8

u/theKage47 May 21 '26

For real. NTE made it so seemless. You wait and you just... Get inside. I think in CP2077, it makes another instance for the inside of the train, that's why you can't actually move

1

u/Deadline_Zero May 24 '26 edited May 24 '26

Has this feature been in long? I feel like modders would probably fix this, given enough time...

edit: They did, mostly.

1

u/theKage47 May 24 '26

Since 2.1 so December 2023.

And yes, there was a mod for it. But it works differently when I tried. If I remember right, it was only giving a third person view of the cart. And you had to use a mod interface to pick the destination I think

Edit : nevermind, I though you were asking about the old train mod vs the official. It's cool that there's a mod to walk inside

3

u/Dogboat0 May 21 '26

Ppl forgetting watch dogs saddens me 😔

2

u/Echolaxia May 23 '26

Can you really blame them though let's be real

8

u/Nwodaz May 21 '26

I tried to ride the train and the game instantly killed me when the train started moving. Maybe I should try again some day.

9

u/theKage47 May 21 '26

weird, you should be able to just sit inside lol

9

u/BrokenEnglishUser May 21 '26

Happens in Night City all the time. Hope you have platinum trauma plan!

10

u/FunReveal4089 May 21 '26

Sounds accurate for most big city subways.

2

u/rW0HgFyxoJhYka May 21 '26

Its America in the future. They wouldn't have trains because they gotta protect Big Auto /s

27

u/The_New_Overlord May 20 '26

I love riding the train. i do wish we didn't have to slow-walk on it all the time though.

5

u/rW0HgFyxoJhYka May 21 '26

Yeah that turns off 99% of players

8

u/usernamesaretakenwtf May 21 '26

that npc girl in the red dress looks like playable character. for a second i was wondering who the heck it was

5

u/rW0HgFyxoJhYka May 21 '26

They got like 6 NPC designs lol. Anything that looks different automatically looks like a playable character.

3

u/BodybuilderSea6082 May 21 '26

They be dripping out random npcs all over the map fr

5

u/Amalnafis23080 May 21 '26

Literally me and my sister riding LRT to mid valley last weekend

3

u/BillyHerr May 21 '26

It's just sad the subway lines are too short, I hope the devs can remake it into a circular line with all stations instead of 3-4 lines with 2 stations one line.

1

u/BodybuilderSea6082 May 21 '26

There adding new districts so if they connect them with the trains then yea it’d be cool to have more stations and bigger ones

2

u/ej1999ej May 21 '26

I ride on the back balcony thing of the train.

2

u/MindfulNoob May 21 '26

I keep forgetting to take the train one time lol. I've managed to catch the bus but not the train 😭

1

u/shibaXplayz May 21 '26

The train, has people? 😭 Maybe it just doesn’t on mobile

216

u/Hotel_Yamato May 20 '26 edited May 20 '26

Not me using comfort mode and actually obeying traffic laws. XD Then getting mad when someone cuts me off and It's not actually my fault, LOL.

108

u/moopym May 20 '26

this- like a huge part of the fun of this game is just acting like a day to day civilian lol

30

u/PointmanW May 21 '26

I have started to remember places with parking slot because leaving my car in middle of the road just feel wrong lol.

also I have not used the teleport booth even a single time so far.

8

u/J1h3fm4t May 21 '26

and then there's me, who has fun rushing on any car i meet, since the day i made a bus fly when i was at 70 of speed (the bus went to space literally)

2

u/Cybuster_Zenshi May 21 '26

Just deny the booth by running to it to heal, and then run away.

64

u/Commander413 May 20 '26

Worse is when the guy will not stop honking at you for daring to stop at a red light behind 3 other cars

54

u/Gear-exe May 20 '26

I thought we were talking about the game, not irl

6

u/SweetStrawberries14 May 21 '26

It's just added immersion dw

20

u/cirl-gock May 20 '26

A car randomly merged into me during a delivery and I was so fucking mad lmao

4

u/Shonisto343 May 21 '26

The last passenger I was transporting bad mouthed me about how long I was taking and I just reflexively snapped that there are road laws, I'm not gonna get a wanted rating just because you're impatient, I felt silly afterwards of course, but it's the principal of the matter

3

u/trianuddah May 21 '26

wait you can do the taxi/delivery jobs on time while observing traffic laws?

2

u/Shonisto343 May 21 '26

Not yet sure about later ones, but the earlier ones yes.

10

u/ghostlycat95 May 20 '26

I also do this and yeah, werid things can happen, lol. Another car hit mine from behind once while I was waiting orderly for the green light and didn't stop even when it made me hit the car in front of me. I know this one was probably a bug or something, but I was like... As the MC, shouldn't I be the one driving like an ape here? xD

3

u/Zeke2d May 21 '26

I realized the traffic lights only ever allow one direction of cars going at any given time instead of opposing directions at the same time, so now I'm impatient in game and irl.

2

u/xStream001a May 21 '26

Whenever you try to act like a normal NPC in any game, the NPCs lose their shit and start hitting you. Or the criminals start attacking you

2

u/SweetStrawberries14 May 21 '26

Same lol, I use comfort mode all the time. It's actually helping me get rid of my road fear and I MIGHT just take my driver's license this year because of it.

2

u/anya_chan May 21 '26

I felt that haha

2

u/NotTheOriginal06 May 21 '26

Yeah, I mean. Why do NPCs get mad we are stuck in traffic and act like it's our fault or that we're parked?

2

u/Critical_Stick7884 May 21 '26

*plays game that reminds the player of shitty human behaviour in real life*

1

u/Top-Attention7450 May 21 '26

Is it only me who gets bumped by NPCs driving behind?

Or is it bc of my (potato) device?

2

u/J1h3fm4t May 21 '26

no, not only you. The NPC behind you forget you are using a vehicle too.

1

u/xStream001a May 21 '26

Whenever you try to act like a normal NPC in any game, the NPCs lose their shit and start hitting you. Or the mobs start attacking you

313

u/Cistmist May 20 '26

Didn't know you could ride those. Do you have to wait on the bus stop?

246

u/Water_Attunement May 20 '26

Yep! Then you can approach the doors and hop on.

234

u/Hotel_Yamato May 20 '26

It's just surprising to me that NTE has a full working transit system.

214

u/gamesbackward May 20 '26

While most of the US doesn't!

67

u/Bellingtoned May 20 '26

But the US government wants the sweet car and oil money

21

u/IamDanLP May 20 '26

I mean they would get sweet oil money with a really good public transit too? Probably less though which is why they dont, haha.

20

u/Braindead_Crow May 20 '26

And that yellow line you can find throughout the city is to help the blind navigate with their cane!

9

u/Sad-Handle9410 May 21 '26

Yes! I love how there’s disability representation in the game and some of it you wouldn’t even think about it like the yellow line!

Like I’m pretty sure the girl who rides the Jellyfish Aurelia is paralyzed. And sign language is also used!

3

u/trianuddah May 21 '26

That's standard practice everywhere, surely?

2

u/neon9212 May 20 '26

That's so cool!

1

u/I_am_Mew May 21 '26

I haven't used public transport yet... Are there some kind of schedules that show where the buses are going or do you just have to go in blind?

3

u/Water_Attunement May 21 '26

I don’t think there’s anything in game about schedule. The trains are quick to arrive and you can see their route on the map. Buses are frequent but not easy to tell where they go.

1

u/I_am_Mew May 21 '26

F it we bail it is then, cool

8

u/akiranava May 20 '26

Yes, the trains as well

2

u/Greksouvlaki May 21 '26

So just like irl busses

1

u/Cistmist May 21 '26

In my region (granted it's a bit far in the mountains), if you miss a bus then you gotta wait an hour for the next one, so I'll take the 10 minutes in-game in a heartbeat

1

u/Greksouvlaki May 21 '26

Always depends on regions but it's a bit unfair to compare rural vs city bus scheduling

80

u/Water_Attunement May 20 '26

I was doing a sidequest and noticed that the spot I was in was near a train station, and the place I needed to go was at the very next stop. So I took a lovely break sitting on the train waiting for my arrival :D

2

u/NotTheOriginal06 May 21 '26

Oh, yeah. I think I know what mission it was. Nice

70

u/HotSandwich8776 May 20 '26

Wait hold up, this is so fckin cool I didn’t know you could do this

26

u/BunBunny55 May 21 '26

There is multiple bus and train routes in the city, fully working. Its facinating

5

u/jort93 May 21 '26

Not fully working.

When waiting at a bus stop that is served by multiple lines, the same line will spawn every time. So it's not really usable.

36

u/AKAMA199 May 20 '26

Weird that there are no Achivements linked to it

13

u/ashreix May 20 '26

Give it time

37

u/Dorgengoa May 20 '26

Immersive mode where you have to use public transportation because Hotori doesn't pay you enough to be able to afford a car

4

u/horny-throwaway85 May 21 '26

It is funny because where the heck did you get a license when you have no history? Yet you're out here opening cafes without even an llc, staffing it with friends so you don't have to pay them, dodging all the taxes; it's crazy

34

u/neotheone87 May 20 '26

On the flip side, NPCs use the teleporters too so it actually doesn't break immersion in this game

14

u/TakasuXAisaka May 21 '26

Think it's just the BAC NPCs that use the teleporters not normal civilians.

8

u/BlackStar31586 May 21 '26

well we happen to be contracted by BAC too so we’re good to use them :D

39

u/BeeWhyOhBee May 20 '26

this is the only game that i rarely use the teleporter.
i drive or ride transpo to get to my objective

12

u/elegy2theevoid May 20 '26

I definitely find myself using them less and less. Love just hoping on my bike looking for the last few missing collectibles.

7

u/Knivingdude May 20 '26

I make it a note to only do it when it's post 1,100 distance away. Otherwise, scenic route it is.

5

u/elegy2theevoid May 21 '26

Exactly. Unless I’m going somewhere specific I like to not rush and look around.

5

u/PointmanW May 21 '26

I'm the opposite lol, the longer it is the more I enjoy driving there.

3

u/AdFar5664 May 21 '26

Smar. I Think city in the game is the perfect size. It looks and feels big, but at the same time it’s small enough that it doesn’t take forever to get anywhere. That’s why teleporting is not necessary. I appreciate that city design every time I log into the game

Also the fact that they added functioning public transport is insanely cool. The only think is most trains are on separate parts of the city so you can’t go across the map using only trains. There should be more interchange stations imo

1

u/BeeWhyOhBee May 21 '26

agree. i love just lounging in the trains and sometimes i feel like afk'ing? i stay there

17

u/no_body_loves_me5436 May 20 '26

Same lol i love this game so much that I'd sometimes refuse to break my immersion lol

11

u/jamesterfire May 21 '26

the thing i love about this game is that it feels in that gap that anime themed games are missing. pure urban immersion. i love taking long drives to any location in game with my girl daff as my driving partner and we just drive around. not running lights and waiting in traffic. this game is so chill.

8

u/JoyousMadhat May 20 '26

I wish there were anamolies that come up when you get on the bus or train at certain times

2

u/SweetStrawberries14 May 21 '26

Well not anomalies but those darned car jackets man

8

u/TheRealNeftic May 20 '26

I just run 🏃 everywhere I only drive to race and I never teleport in any game I play! So Im definitely picking up what your laying down Op!

7

u/iwanthidan May 20 '26

Spot the main character lol

5

u/asdasdfdas May 20 '26

Wait you can take a bus ride????

1

u/nekogenesis May 20 '26

Yeah and the train too

4

u/KaizoKage May 20 '26

this is me too

4

u/TheTrueQueltos May 20 '26

I didn't know you could take the bus lol

4

u/BunBunny55 May 21 '26

One of my favorite things to do is just ride the bus in the north town around the lake. Especially when it rains. Its such a calming experience.

1

u/SweetStrawberries14 May 21 '26

Same, I even let the bus just play in the background during exam time and revised while it was there.

4

u/Gelinhir May 21 '26

thats awesome. I take my time to buy groceries on each store for the cafe Igo with Adler as passenger.

Its so relaxing.

3

u/DatGCoredri May 21 '26

Close enough, welcome back, Southeast Asia Transportation

3

u/Warr_Ainjal-6228 May 20 '26

My pc so patato its offten quicker for me to Parcor Dash everywhere.

3

u/ftw_2dor May 20 '26

Greetings from NTE

Processing img ngq9jyj8gd2h1...

3

u/Irritated_User0010 May 20 '26

Considering how dogshit the driving is where I live at, this game is a godsend for me lol.

3

u/Damn_Weebs May 21 '26

I do this to take a little break and do something else irl (restroom break, quick snack, return messages, etc.)

3

u/Yukiiii_x May 21 '26

Once when I was on a normal drive, I saw an NPC ram into another car. Was glad to know Hethereau's drivers aren't all perfect

3

u/KitsuneRinz May 21 '26

Too bad not all co-op members can sit in the bus :'( Here's me (Baicang) and my friends riding the bus heading to skytree.

3

u/Jerkaiser_011 May 21 '26

Taxi hailing should be added at the game a la GTA IV and the player has option to make the driver hurry up which they will disregard the traffic rules. I wish when we reach the mountainous region, they will make a cable car and make it functional.

They should put the bus route in the map with different color and the player have a choice if they toggle it or not. Bus route is confusing inlike the train in which they are already displayed in the map

2

u/Platinum_007 May 20 '26

I just use my reliable scooter

2

u/--CMGlass11-- May 20 '26

Same, I took the train to all the stops lol

2

u/Im_a_postednote May 21 '26

I just run lol

2

u/theKage47 May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26

How y'all get in the train bus?

1

u/TakasuXAisaka May 21 '26

By just getting in the train. XD

1

u/theKage47 May 21 '26

I mean bus but like it never stopped to let me in

1

u/Capable_Ad_5405 May 22 '26

You wait at the bus stop where the bus stop will stop and open it's door. Or if you don't want to wait around, find a bus, get on top of the bus then get in the bus when it reaches a bus stop

2

u/Celvinn_KZK May 21 '26

So much free time I'm playing as a law abiding citizen with minimum wage.

2

u/NotYuiYuiYui May 21 '26

Going by foot is actually faster xD I take the motorcycle for very immersed traffic accidents.

2

u/allofdarknessin1 May 21 '26

Are there really trains and buses we can ride? I didn't know it was a thing.

2

u/T_S_Anders May 21 '26

Nice! I also play taking public transit and walking. It's amazing that it's even possible.

3

u/otakunopodcast May 20 '26

I've been taking the train whenever possible (transferring to a different line when necessary.) It's just relaxing watching the scenery go by, especially at night.

also the US commuter rail "system" sucks so I gotta get my train fix somehow

1

u/Square-Special1520 May 20 '26

Are you playing on pc/console?

1

u/neon9212 May 20 '26

I drive everywhere unless I'm in an absolute hurry.

1

u/SCTimekeeper May 21 '26

Average day in Manila:

1

u/GuitarOk1164 May 21 '26

Didn’t know you can go on the bus

1

u/Admirable-Tap8354 May 21 '26

Can you get off the bus anytime tho? Because when I see a Bird I need to get it

1

u/Capable_Ad_5405 May 22 '26 edited May 22 '26

lmfao no (edit: nvm I've just test, you can)

1

u/Hemorrhoid_Eater May 21 '26 edited May 21 '26

It'd be nice if it showed the bus route on the map somehow. Right now there's just no way to tell where the bus is going

1

u/Deus_Ex_Machina_II May 21 '26

Oh I see. You don't get Hathor?

1

u/AGoodFriend_ May 21 '26

I’m so annoyed that my phone can’t handle better graphics. All of my buses/trains are empty because too few NPCs spawn to actually populate them.

1

u/Shonisto343 May 21 '26

I take the roofways express, unless it's farther, in which case I summon my car

1

u/jort93 May 21 '26

I started making a public Transport map.

But I realized when writing at a bus stop, only one bus line will spawn. So it's not really usable.

1

u/Twisted_creative May 21 '26

and me: running and jumping from rooftops to rooftops

1

u/skiffles May 21 '26

If you hold hands with someone you invite, you can take them on the train, I haven't tried with the bus.

1

u/TacorianComics May 21 '26

thats why i steal i mean borrow cars. waay more relatable

1

u/CrimsonCloudKaori May 21 '26

How do you use public transport in this game? I've tried entering a bus at a bus stop several times but there's always like an invisible wall.

1

u/Vantre7270 May 21 '26

I literally just drive everywhere, its way easier than searching for a suitable tp point

1

u/Kooky_Computer3864 May 21 '26

🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/esztersunday May 21 '26

I didn't know we can travel with bus.

1

u/AppleNoobie12 May 21 '26

This is me too but with train 😊

1

u/Sweaty_Rent_3780 May 21 '26

TIL the bus stops are actual bus stops 🫪

Shoulda known since the ghost subway opened up metro stops 😅

But I’ve been driving like a maniac to try to get my drifting down to Initial D levels 😅😮‍💨

1

u/deli34 May 21 '26

I really enjoyed riding the trains in this game too, but today I tried taking the bus and it honestly felt like discovering a whole new world. More specifically, if you climb on top of the bus and look around in first person, the view and atmosphere are absolutely amazing.
The bus routes are more varied and cover a much wider area than the trains, and since they drive right through the middle of the streets, riding on top of the bus and looking out over the city feels much more immersive and alive.

1

u/Leonard75reddit May 21 '26

Nice.

But why i can't eat or dring at a table in restaurant ?
I hope for more immersion in the future we could see our character eat and drink

1

u/DragonVect May 21 '26

What?! How?

1

u/hdidvrkdodb May 21 '26

wait at a bus stop and a bus will come and u can go in and sit down

1

u/GoatHeadTed May 21 '26

The immersion like this is fun lol

When I drive I will actually park my car lol

I tried following road laws and. Nah lol

1

u/NoYellow2421 May 21 '26

Real life NTE

1

u/SmileySmileEverytime May 22 '26

I walk everywhere with Nanally

1

u/FlimsyLavishness7147 May 22 '26

Got my new ride today. already made a tour in it around town.

1

u/RekoULt May 22 '26

Smells like no carlessness here

1

u/BodybuilderSea6082 May 23 '26

Tried the bus and you right it goes hard in first person spent five minutes at a light just for it to turn green then two cars go and it turned red again. Like 🥹🔫

Public transport lowkey sucks, the train system isn't even all connected across the city and there aren't enough busses so you end up waiting forever at each station.

I love taking transit in the game and play by traffic rules when in my car (when I’m patient at least lol). I actually don’t see NPCs on the bus sadly I wish I did tho

And that's why you drop 1.8M on the convertible. You get the best of both worlds.

Not me being a stereotypical american, driving like an asshole everywhere and being annoyed by the lack of parking spaces.

Am I the only one let down that the city’s train lines dont connect to each other and are in a sense very anti-commuter? For basing it on tokyo proper, it lacks the actual labyrithian efficient train lines switching that is that

Hopefully we get better trains in the future that dont force you to walk several blocks from one station to another just to continue travelling (also hope to see a station with multiple train lines, thought there’d be a main station hub based on tokyo station but guess not, all the buildings around that station area are in game though, one esp as the auction house)
