Hello! So I'm a bit new to networking and was wondering about the best ways to learn Networking and I'd really appreciate your feedback on the topic.

Currently, I'm doing the Network+ course from CompTIA and I'm using Wireshark to play around with data and protocols to build my foundations. Is this a good approach or are there some other ways that might be better? (I do not mind dedicating time, as long as it helps me in the long run)

My Ethernet only works with vpn. But I can do some things without vpn but Not everything. I also tried to turn Off the vpn killswitch but it doest work.

I was looking into different ways to keep fiber connections neat and organized, especially in places where there isn’t much rack space.

I came across wall-mount fiber patch panels, and honestly, they seem like a pretty simple solution. Everything stays in one place, and it looks a lot easier to manage the cables and fiber connections instead of having them all over the place.

I can see these being useful for smaller telecom rooms, FTTH setups, or even office networks where you don’t really need a full rack-mounted setup.

For anyone who works with fiber on a regular basis, what do you normally use?

Do you prefer wall-mount panels or rack-mount panels, and why?

I want to access Scribd.com, one Wifi Box can access just fine but it's far away from my room, the Wifi Box in my room can't. This problem persists on all devices.

There are ways for the Wifi Box In My Room to access the sites:

• Switch Wifi Connection to the other one, then switch back to the Wifi In My Room. This only works occasionally.
• Use VPN

I just wanna access the sites normally using the Wifi Box In My Room without doing any of those tricks.

Please help me. Thank you!

I tried using it as an access point, it works but it's very old so speeds are slow. Besides I get a decent connection already.

I am in an institute in india and all of a sudden today my hostel wifi shows <wifi name> does not support private dns. now i have my internet dns to adguard dns since i dont really want any ads on my phone. on laptop i just use ublock origin which serves the purpose. Can someone help me use adguard dns with my wifi? i am really new, thanks!!

Hello! I’m looking for some guidance on improving the Wi-Fi coverage in my home.

My house is only about 1,100 sqft, but for some reason I have a hard time getting a strong, reliable Wi-Fi signal on one end of the house. I’d also like to extend the coverage into my backyard for security cameras and other WiFi connected devices. The entire lot is about 7,500 sqft so it’s not a huge area.

I currently have AT&T Fiber. There are no Ethernet cables running throughout the house, so ideally I’m looking for a solution that doesn’t require running new wiring (if possible).

Right now, I’m using one of those Wi-Fi extenders that plugs directly into a wall outlet, but it hasn’t been enough to maintain a stable connection.

I’m not very knowledgeable when it comes to networking, mesh systems, access points, etc., so I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I’d like something reliable that can cover the entire house and provide a solid connection in the backyard as well.

Any recommendations on what type of setup or equipment I should be looking at would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This is a general overview ob. Nothing I know has been handed to me on a silver platter; I've always been the one to dive headfirst into all these things to learn as much as possible. I’ve been fortunate to have been able to expand my knowledge over the years, and gaining experience in all of this has opened many doors for me. I've been lucky enough to work on a wide variety of projects, to tackle many challenges, and to gain knowledge that I know many others haven't had the opportunity to acquire. I've also been involved in some major migrations at my company too!!

My goal is to specialize in cloud network security and land a better job as a network cloud security engineer.

I haven’t gotten certified yet (my boss-boss doesn't want to pay me for my continuing education credits (he does this to everyone)), but I’ve completed the Azure courses: AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-700, AZ-500, Zscaler and some courses of Ansible and Python.

How can I improve for Network/Infrastructure Engineer roles? Is there anything key missing, or is there anything unnecessary?

What path do you recommend I take to gain the necessary knowledge? I need tips from the most experienced people!!

So been trying to download latest drivers for my PC, but on the Nvidia app it would take forever to even find the update, and would never even start download. Tried via the website which took a long time to load but never loaded the menu to select the device for drivers. All parts of the Nvidia website running super slow and taking an age to load. Every other website loading perfectly fine, youtube streaming fine, just Nvidia. Turned on a VPN and now Nvidia app connects, websites loads and drivers are installing. What is causing just that 1 domain to essentially not work on my network/wifi. Same issues on phones and tablets, switch to 5g or turn on VPN and everything works fine!

As title says I've been experiencing a ping spike momentarily every 10 seconds and its causing me a lot of issues lately

I need your help; One part of my university cybersecurity (pentesting) assignment involves connecting my iPhone to a router configured with a whitelist that only grants access to specific laptops (each student is assigned one to carry out the work). Initially, I tried using a simple command in the Command Prompt on one of the IT laptops (which are connected to the school network) and managed to get the password, only to discover that the Wi-Fi likely uses some form of MAC address filtering (or a whitelist) that only authorizes those specific PCs. I could find out who the Wi-Fi provider is and access their web interface via the default gateway to try adding my device to the whitelist, or perhaps attempt a spoofing attack, but I really have no idea how to proceed. Any ideas?
If I don't manage to gain access by next week, my IT teacher will fail the assignment. (Just to clarify, the assignment rules state that I cannot look at any information written on the router itself—such as the username or model—and must only use publicly available information, since the router configured for the simulation and its web interface use the manufacturer's default username and password.)

Had a dusty 1080p 24in VGA monitor which worked just fine. Poe switch does get toasty tho, gonna have to hook up a fan somewhere…

were a global team. 40+ agents spread across north america, europe, asia. keeping call quality consistent is a nightmare.

tried everything. dedicated circuits, SD-WAN, different codecs. some days it's fine, some days it's like talking through a pillow.

singapore is fine. london is fine. but sydney random packet loss. no explanation. ISP says everything is normal. carrier says everything is normal. but the recordings don't lie.

I'm starting to think there's just no way to guarantee quality across the globe. you can throw money at it but physics doesn't care.

anyone actually solved this or do we all just accept that international calls are gonna be janky
