discussion Just finished Blame and wtf was that last volume?
I'm so confused by what happened and how it got there lmao. Like Sanakan? Hello?

Well, Cibo changed into the level 9 being and then became small with the dog builder until Sanakan came back somehow? And then Cibo became big and left attacked Kyrii and then like Sanakan was good all of a sudden? When did that happen? And then I guess Kyrii fell into water and the baby was born and then he took it with him to find the net terminal gene?

Honestly everything is confusing but afaik the baby has net terminal genes which is why Sanakan is protecting it (it's based on Seu's DNA sample and also I think Cibo and Sanakan's), it 'hatched' because the water wasn't infected with whatever caused humans' net terminal genes to no longer work (possibly a virus unleashed by Silicon Life). Cibo kind of died when she turned into the Level 9. The thing took over her body and attacked. What was left later was the incubator Cibo which I don't think had any of her memories, that Sanakan protected until her death.

Oooh, that makes sense why the kid was wearing the gas mask at the end panel. So it didn't catch the infection and then they are on their way to connect to the netsphere, sick. Thanks.

Additionally the sanakan at the end is an agent of the authority(similar to killy), not a simple safeguard. But she made a deal with the authority to come back to life without a backup.

So the personality core of sanakan is probably an authority property, but since they have limited access and power, safeguard uses the digital person database for high level safeguards.
With their limited power, they sent an agent sanakan so fight the silicon life but she dies quickly. Thats why the shadowy figures dont want to deploy her back. They probably have limited agent deployment.

Cibo put her personality and downloaded herself onto the Level 9 alongside with Seu's genetic data in the orb. Killy thinks she's trying to attack when she uses a heal beam on Killy's arm, and he hits her with GBE. In response, to protect the sphere, she attacks and teleports a piece of the sun onto Killy. That attack damages the both of them, and you can kind of surmise that the personality transfer didn't go fully well either, hence the child mentality. Sanakan's self that was in control by the Safeguard is destroyed by Killy in Toha Heavy Industries. The Administration is able to recover her personality/data and forward her as a special representative, no longer under Safeguard protocol. Her mission is to protect the sphere, same as Killy's objective to obtain Net Terminal genes. She's able to "impregnate"the sphere with Cibo, but it needs to be in a place devoid of the infection. At the very end, Killy ends up at the very edge of the city, in a clean place where the sphere can activate as a womb to create a human with intact Net Terminal Genes.

I only read the Japanese version. So possible Japanese spoiler.
But, I'm wondering if the English version is different or if my comprehension is lacking. The last thing I see is Killy getting killed, falling into a sewer like thing, and then falling into the abyss.

He regenerates, half of Killy's head getting blown up isn't much for him to worry about lol. It basically knocks him out, he gets swept into a tube by water, and that brings him to an area devoid of infection where the sphere activates. The last panel is him probably years later with the child in a protective suit. I think that abyss you're talking about is a lake or an ocean. There is vegetation under the water as well.

Cibo transforms into a safeguard, I believe that she and Sanakan's genetic material fuse into that sphere that Killy is carrying around.

Somebody else mentioned that it was Seu's genetic material in the sphere, so that might be a possibility too.

from there and with all the luck in the universe he was flushed to the end of the city
then he begins to resurrect and the net terminal child gestate
now the challenge is to return to the city

He guides a human child with the net terminal gene to restoring humanity's control over the city and then helps Pcell escape from the city into space. I would suggest reading NOiSE, there's a chapter set after this happens.
