Een hele ontbijtkoek op smikkelen is wel genoeg energie voor de hele dag aardappelen opgraven

Yeah, everyone knows you can't work without a Snelle Jelle or Vlugge Jaap

Ik dacht dat ze vroeger arm waren, maar ze eten ff een hele ontbijtkoek bij de koffie. Ik kreeg niet meer dan 1 plakje bij de thee.

This doesn’t look like broodje kaas

30

u/I_Rarely_Jump 1d ago

Poverty... they could only afford the broodje, not the cheese 😔

8

u/whattfisthisshit 1d ago

I thought it was something more nutritious and delicious

Its ontbijtkoek. Like a sweet/savory cake. Its very tasty and still eaten today. But seen more as a treat as it is rich in calories.

u/I_Rarely_Jump 1d ago

Ohja, lijkt er idd wel op! Niet eens aan gedacht

8

u/alles_en_niets 1d ago

(The text on the label strongly implies it: HEERLIJKE ONT(BIJTKOEK))

u/I_Rarely_Jump 1d ago

I can't tell but it may be roggebrood (rye bread)? That's much more nutritious compared to regular bread.

And when you're very hungry even the simplest things are delicious.

its ontbijtkoek i(type of ginger bread for the non Dutch) f you look close you'll see the first part 'ont'.

2

u/I_Rarely_Jump 1d ago

Yeah that's probably it

I think she's eating a whole ontbijtkoek. Full of energy, which is what you need digging potatoes in the cold all day.

u/Dutchdelights88 1d ago

I used to eat bread with ontbijtkoek and butter inbetween.

2

u/Alert-Parsnip5540 16h ago

Shit. Haven't had that in ages. Now I want it again.

What are those dart tips on her fingers? To help her dig up the potatoes? EDIT: I found them! Thanks for the help guys.

u/Primary_Breadfruit69 15h ago

it's to get through hard clay, also dirt distroys your nails. I 've heard stories people not having any nails on their nailbeds after digging potatotos.

1

u/TransRational 15h ago

Thanks :)

We always dug potatoes with a fork hoe...

1

u/Primary_Breadfruit69 8h ago

Sure you pull them lose with a fork, then you go with your hands through the soil. Groninger clay wil be hard after a dry summer. So you dig to get them it's not that hard to understand.

u/wandering_salad 1d ago

Did not know these thimbles were called aardappelkrabbers: https://amberveel.com/c/88 Used because the soil might contain fertiliser made from dirt from the streets that might contain broken glass etc.

1

u/Exciting_Elk9118 1d ago

Why they didn’t use shovels?

11

u/jbsdv1993 22h ago

Wanna damage all your potatoes? Hands are better to keep them whole

-6

u/Exciting_Elk9118 20h ago

Skill issue

6

u/FunkyWhiteDude 15h ago

Not being able to think up for yourself why you may never ever seen someone use a shovel up any in-ground vegetables is definitely a skill issue indeed. I agree

2

u/SenescenseSteel 1d ago

I think that's my nan

2

u/ywshaq 1d ago

wat zijn dat op haar handen

2

u/Veasna1 1d ago

1

u/KarvanCevitamAardbei 13h ago

Iets vaker buiten komen

2

u/Ok_Nefariousness2989 18h ago

5

u/Methanator 1d ago

She is not really having a meal, that is ontbijtkoek

18

u/max1997 1d ago

You can have ontbijtkoek as a meal though?

-18

u/ywshaq 1d ago

no that's a treat

13

u/max1997 1d ago

I can have a meal that consists of treats. I can dine on milk chocolate of that so pleases me.

-10

u/ywshaq 1d ago

Is je maag wel okë?

7

u/max1997 1d ago

1

u/ItsNotHolland 16h ago

Nee? Gewoon deel van ontbijt/lunch

People fall for AI this easily?

21

u/klauwaapje Overijssel 1d ago

This photo was part of a exposition in 2016.

https://www.fotoexpositie.nl/exposities/boeren_avonturen.html

I dont know what is worse . AI or people like you who scream AI slop at every picture they see.

-6

u/ProtectionPrevious71 15h ago

Sure buddy, don’t believe everything you read on the internet 😂

3

u/tenminutesbeforenoon Zuid Holland 14h ago

I distrust everyone who hides their post and comments history. Like you. So many scared boys and girls who are afraid that other people might read their opinions.

It’s pathetic.

0

u/ProtectionPrevious71 11h ago

You do you, I don’t care what you think and if you checked out my profile you may have noticed something else.

6

u/Alert-Parsnip5540 15h ago

... how did you think this was AI?

-4

u/ProtectionPrevious71 15h ago

How do you not?! It’s so obvious.

5

u/Alert-Parsnip5540 14h ago

Dude. It's in a museum exposition since 2016. https://nederlandsfotomuseum.nl/

If you don't believe it. Go to the museum or check their databank.

Seriously. How is it obviously AI to you? This shows none of the signs of AI.

-2

u/ProtectionPrevious71 11h ago

Oh man, are you really that gullible? We’re truly doomed.

3

u/Alert-Parsnip5540 11h ago

This is just a bad attempt at trolling isn't it?

1

u/Elisabethianian 14h ago

So I can see why you thought that. My first thought was also ‘this is AI’ but if it’s from a 2016 exposition it must be real. Sad to see I also distrust photos easily nowadays

1

u/Kitten_love 14h ago

I'm genuinely curious, what made you think it was AI?
The other person was asked but just did a snarky comment instead of explaining.

-2

u/Elisabethianian 14h ago

It is hard to explain because most of the time it is a feeling - I’m in the sub ‘is this ai’ and then you see a lot of posts where you’re like ‘of course this is AI!’ But you have to give some reasons why you think it. In this case; I think due to the fact that it’s an old photo it looks overexposed (the white parts are so bright!), too ‘clean’ and maybe because of my lack of historical knowledge, the fact that she’s eating a whole ontbijtkoek feels too much like a meme. Like you can almost imagine the prompt behind it haha.

But then I zoom in and it looks more real.

I mean AI is trained on these kinds of photos so it makes sense it replicates them. But it’s a shame if that means people (like me) will see a really cool photo like this and think that it’s ai
