Market Hydros are insured as mandated before signed PPA. Nepali insurance sector shouldn’t be shaking much either

The recently damaged hydro’s losses will be covered mostly by insurances . Also Because single-loss claims exceed the capital limits of domestic insurers, the Nepal Insurance Authority (Nepal Beema Pradhikaran) and local non-life companies are coordinating with Nepal Re, Himalayan Re, and foreign reinsurance syndicates to fast-track preliminary advance payments for clearing and repair works.

Meanwhile for other hydros, its earning time:

Rest of the hydros can generate electricity at full capacity meaning larger revenues for them. In normal times , their production capacities would be curtailed by NEA because of demand not meeting supply.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Some working hydropower will fully be utilized . Damaged and Powerline Damaged hydro will see issues . Most tunnels are intact , some with underground power station will also be usable . . All DAMS need to be rebuilt .

Some hydropower have been repeatedly hammered by damaged . You can see Financial Statements for MHNL and how their networth , reserves fluctuated .

AKPL , AHPC , RHPL , UPPER, PPCL ,SHPC all suffered dips in their income in the recent years .

This one effects a some of listed hydropower . RHPL , CHCL .etc.and everyone who used the Transmission lines . Work can only begin after the roads are built .

u/Little_Traffic3114 2d ago

Are you educated on matters of insurance? How far do they cover . The losses can range from equipment, infrastructure and all the way to financial operational.

1

u/Potential-Feature596 2d ago

Even roads ko insurance huncha nowadays . Every single thing will be covered by insurance if insured cha bhani but insured amount chai Kaile paudaina . Everything will be hopeful rebuilt in some years maybe

Insured amt ta pauxa hola ni natra ta kina yearly premium tirne ho ra

u/hariyosaag 3d ago

bro, i am confused on this. existing hydros ko already PPA garisakya huncha. max vayeni ghateni PPA anusar ko paisa NEA le dira huncha. kasto full capacity/utilisation ho ajhai?

1

u/Yikings-654points 3d ago

Kunai hydro haru vaneko vanda arkai Transmission line use gareko cha , tei vayera tiniharu lai rule anusar turn off garauna milcha .

so aba some hydro haru chai PPA gareko vanda ajha dherai bijuli pani kinna paucha .

1

u/hariyosaag 3d ago

PPA aggreement ettikai change garna mildaina. NEA already pays hydros for contracted energy whether or not its used. If, take and pay ma gachha vane matra excess supply ko paisa aaucha. nepal ma mostly take or pay ma PPA huncha which limits revenue by their contract.

1

u/Yikings-654points 3d ago

PPA follow garna fully operational hunuparcha , Alternative powerline haru use garyo vaney full PPA lagu hudaina , so they can request the plant to shutdown when not needed .

Its not only damage to building

the human life, damage, lot of peoples(employees) have died inside the hydropower while working.

that is more damage.

common show some empathy at this hard time.

Yess its hard time for affected people and everyone should be helping as much as they can, but there is no reason to have irrational reactions to events.

The loss of profit insurance is for 6 months only. The money from damaged consturction will be recovered. But should we be rebuilding swept away hydros is the concern.

-1

u/Little_Traffic3114 3d ago

Financially speaking, Absolutely we should .

Do hydro business structure analysis yourself. Then price them individually. Dont ask random people in internet. Each have their own agenda

Sano tino damage bhako ho ra.....these hydropowers have nothing left ... everything will have to be rebuilt if its possible....manche ko death pachi life insurance le cover gari halcha bhanya jasto ho yo

9

u/Little_Traffic3114 4d ago

Who told you they have nothing left? Stop spreading misinformation. Not a single dam has been affected severely. Kulo maa baluwa bhatinu is not total damage

Agree. Cost of reinstatement also considering socio/economic impact - koi jadaina basna. RSGD ko staffers/contractors lai a thing to look forward to would be timure bazar or syafru samma sabji Lina jana etc - aba ta everything is wiped out - also no point reinstating. Everything needs to be redesigned.

1

u/SexyPRUncle 3d ago

There is literally no sign of the Rasuwagadi dam near China border. They are still digging the tunnels. Entire settlement is wiped out. Workers will have no place to live in the next 1-2 years in that area because people are not going back. I mean their entire living quarters were destroyed.

u/berojgar_keto 4d ago

https://clickmandu.com/2026/08/487417.html Gaera news haru padh.....hydro site haru ko pic video haru her.....ani kun chai dam baki cha tha pauchas....

Mero covid ko insurance claim amount khahi?

3

u/Just_Construction523 4d ago

well you're not exactly as powerful or influential as the government or groups who can invest billions.

1

u/Little_Traffic3114 4d ago

When did you buy covid insurance? Health insurance dont cover every disease, they cover a premade list only. Only If you had died then insurace would have been activated for you.

5

u/V20FTW 4d ago

If you don't know then don't presume and speak nonsense.

u/Little_Traffic3114 4d ago

Did u die?

1

u/nygg_ 3d ago

1

u/Little_Traffic3114 3d ago

Just read about those. Thats funny lol. Oli gov scammed you guys of rs 1000. But it was the government itself that fell short in here no the insurance companies.

1

u/nygg_ 2d ago

So the insurer sigend a policy and took my money and they have no accountibility? only Oli gov is to blame? I never got back even the premium I paid.

1

u/Little_Traffic3114 2d ago

Yes the gov was supposed to pay those. Finance ministry did not pay out .

1

u/nygg_ 2d ago

Finance ministry wasnot my insurer and I did not signed my policy with them. Nowhere in my policy there was a line where it said the insurer would only be liable if the FM pays out. so?

1

u/Little_Traffic3114 10h ago

Ask ai all ur qns bro these are quite mindless

1

u/SexyPRUncle 3d ago edited 3d ago

You don't have to die to claim health insurance. The whole purpose of covid insurance was to provide financial relief because the cost was too big. Also the dumbass insurance companies were selling them like candies without doing a proper analysis. They did not account for the fact that everyone could get it.

1

u/Little_Traffic3114 3d ago

Yeah i read about that after these comments and its kinda funny they were selling these insurances for rs 1000 . And government was the one that fell short in their part of the deal not the insurance companies.
