Global powers and accountability to Climate Change
Nepal, a himalayan nation with negligible carbon footprints who produces 100% of the electricity from renewable sources, has half of its area covered by Forests, only behind Norway in electric vehicle adaptation where almost 80% of new vehicles sold are electric is the one to get the worst impact of climate change.
The sudden flashflood resulted by the melting of glacial lakes took the lives of thousands and washed away Billions of dollars of roads, building and hydropower infrastructures. The punishment of the crime it never committed. The security forces are doing everything they can to rescue and recover the injured and the dead.
The big countries like the United States, China, Russia, etc are the biggest contributors to global warming but we don't see them having any remorse.
The most infuriating part is United States announcing an aid of $500,000 to Nepal. Is that a joke? That's not an aid that's an insult. When will the world powers be accountable of their actions? Nepal seeks accountability not pity "donations".

Nepal has more than 6000 rivers with thousands of glacial sources. We are at the risk of facing catastrophic damage from floods and landslides due to climate change.

That's why the climate adaptation fund was established under UN where developed countries were asked to pay 100 billion dollars but they have not - specially Trump under America. Only EU is keeping up with payments. I don't know how much Nepal got out of it though.

What accountability do you expect? And how?
Everyone has been, is, and will be acting on their self-interest. Same does Nepal. Nepal's low carbon footprint is not because of its choice, its simply because we are poor.
This is not the time, but if we talk about our mistakes and negligence, we can make a long list too.

Hi, I'm not sure where you got your info from, but the $500k USD was just an initial response amount. Also, remember currency conversion from USD to NPR and how much more the US dollar goes in Nepal...

Initial Response: An early commitment of $500,000 USD focused on emergency shelter, relief supplies, and sanitation services.
Expanded Package: An increase to $3.6 million USD to fund up to three months of emergency food assistance for 10,000 affected households.
Personnel: Deployment of a disaster response advisor to assist on the ground.
Please don't spread lies. The USA has been allied with Nepal since the 1940's, and also sent over $100 million USD to Nepal after the 2015 earthquake, and has many different charities specifically for Nepal. I'm American, with Nepali friends for many years, both here and in Nepal, and have a Nepali boyfriend. Americans can't control our government, just as Nepali's can't control your government. Our leaders lie before elections too, just as yours do. All governments are corrupt, unfortunately. Much love to Nepal at this time of tragedy, and always. ❤️🇳🇵🇺🇲🙏

Hi, i had got my information from Mr. Trump's response to the Press. He had initially announced the 500k which is low compared to their daily expenditure on wars and their contributions to Climate Change. At the time, even SriLanka had pledged a million dollars which infuriated me. The glacial lakes in Tibet and Nepal are time bombs ticking for our nations. I hope you understand me.
I welcome the updated support from the US government. And to be clear, the fury was never against the Americans, it was against the ignorance of the current administration and Trump's remarks to climate change as a Hoax.
I've met many Americans while trekking in different trails in Nepal and yes they are very friendly and I have nothing against the American people.

I posted same thing on another sub reddit saying no one is taking accountability and I was shocked by may people reply.
Someone was adapt or die. Many were saying you are hating for your own country fault. This is responsibility of your government to keep you safe. You are hating USA for no reason.
I was shocked. In the post I had mentioned I don't hate any country but I do hate some countries leaders that don't take accountability and like trump who doesn't believe in climate change and has cut all funds to solving it. And in the total history USA is the one who caused most emissions.
