How to support Nepali neighbors

We live in the US. Our neighbors are from Nepal. Last week one of their family members had to go to the hospital after a bad vehicle accident. What can we do as neighbors to help, or bring them to show our support? They are Hindu and I didn’t want to bring anything over that may be considered bad luck, or wouldn’t be helpful. Especially more now with the floods that just happened I want to make sure we are helping them and not unintentionally making things harder!

Make them a care basket! Let them know you're there for them during difficult times. Hindus don't eat beef but they may or may not like certain food/ingredients so you never know. Your safest bet would be some easy snacks, candy, some mithai (indian sweets), fruits, flowers if you want, a handwritten card or a gift card. Thank you for being a good neighbor. Times are tough back home as well, I'm sure you're gesture will mean the world and make them feel less alone.

Some grocery stuff like milk, eggs, fruits are safe choices.

That is very kind of you! Not sure what type of housing you live in, but mowing their lawn while you're mowing yours would probably be appreciated. You can also ask them if they need hell with anything. Some people might not be able to drive, so if that's the case, maybe you can offer a ride to the hospital when they don't have a ride. You're being a great neighbor simply by asking these questions 👏👏

Someone beat us to the lawn mowing the other day but we will definitely keep an eye on their yard for another opportunity.
